BUILDINGS

Having a long history, Prestwich has a number of old buildings which, thankfully, have been preserved (though a few have wondered to pastures greener!).

A list of buildings that I have information and pictures of can been seen in the 'Buildings Index' on the left. Please click any one to peruse.

In 1753 the first schoolhouse in Prestwich was erected at Rooden Lane on the site of the "Church Lodge", probably near where the Heaton Park railway station is now, but on the opposite side of the road. The building was demolished in 1811 when part of Great Heaton was enclosed behind the Park wall.
