SHOW RULES AND REGULATIONS BIG

Point System: Points to be
given in all classes (except classes not eligible). Rider must
show at least half of the shows for eligibility,
points are accumulated throughout the season towards
an end of the year award.

NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOST OR STOLEN PROPERTY
OR ANY ACCIDENTS TO ANIMALS OR PEOPLE.

(except weanling and yearling halter).

RIDER AND MOUNT MUST BE READY
AND AT THE GATE WHEN THE JUDGE CALLS FOR THE CLASS
TO ENTER THE RING.
WHEN THE CLASS IS CLOSED, YOU MAY NOT ENTER
THE RING.

HORSE MUST BE REGISTERED FOR
CLASS TWO CLASSES PRIOR. No class changes
or entries after 1:00 P.M.

LOSS OF MOUNT IS AN AUTOMATIC
DISQUALIFICATION.
·
HITTING THE HORSE IN FRONT OF
THE SADDLE IS AN AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFICATION.
·
IN THE EVENT THAT THERE IS ONLY
ONE ENTRY FOR A CLASS, THE PARTICIPANT WILL BE
ALLOWED TO EXHIBIT THEIR HORSE. THE
PARTICIPANT WILL RECEIVE 1 POINT TOWARD YEAR END
TOTALS.

NO STALLION BY YOUTH EXHIBITORS
ON GROUNDS DURING THE SHOW.
·
NO ENTERING THE RING AT A RUN
FOR ANY CLASS.
·
EXHIBITOR MUST REQUEST A TACK
CHANGE AT LEAST ONE CLASS PRIOR TO CLASS. THREE
MINUTES ALLOWED ON REQUESTED TACK CHANGES.
·
ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR IN OR OUT OF
THE SHOW RING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
·
PROPER ATTIRE REQUIRED IN ALL
CLASSES (no shorts or
sneakers/tennis shoes).
·
JUDGE’S DECISIONS ARE FINAL.
·
NEGATIVE COGGINS REQUIRED FOR
ALL EQUINES ON THE GROUNDS DURING ANY JCTR EVENT.
·
NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ALLOWED
ON THE GROUNDS DURING A SHOW.
·
THE BREAKING OF THESE RULES
COULD RESULT IN A DISQUALIFICATION FROM THE CLASS OR
EJECTION FROM THE SHOW GROUNDS.
·
Competitor
must use jctr provided numbers only.
FOR SPEED
EVENTS, IF MECHANICAL TIMER FAILS, TWO STOPWATCH
TIMERS WILL BE USED TO CALCULATE TIME.

JR. HORSE PROOF OF AGE REQUIRED.
·
JCTR
RESERVES THE RIGHT TO HIRE A QUALIFIED DQP,
FARRIER, VETERINARIAN OR REPRESENTATIVE OF THE
CLUB TO CHECK FOR UNSOUNDNESS OR ANIMAL CRUELTY. IF A
VIOLATION IS FOUND, THE VIOLATOR WILL BE ASKED TO
LEAVE THE GROUNDS AND NOT BE ALLOWED TO SHOW IN
ANY OTHER JCTR SPONSORED SHOWS FOR THE ENTIRETY OF
THE SHOW YEAR.
VIOLATORS NAMES, HORSE NAMES AND VIOLATION
INFORMATION WILL BE FORWARDED TO THE DEPARTMENT OF
AGRICULTURE AND/OR HUMANE SOCIETY.

SEVERELY
LAME/IMPAIRED
HORSES WILL BE EXCUSED FROM THE RING/SHOW.
JCTR FOLLOWS all breeds
nationally recognized rules and regulations.
WEANLING
AND YEARLING HALTER: Open to all
breeds weanling or yearling, papers or proof of age
in hand. Can
cross enter in only one other halter class. Follow
Judge and Ring Masters Instructions.
OPEN
MODEL HALTER: Open to all
non-stock type horses, Gaited, Arabian, Saddle Type,
color breeds, Thoroughbred, Mule, etc. Follow
Judge and Ring Masters Instructions.
WESTERN
MARE HALTER: Open
to any mare horse of western type breeds.
(Examples: Quarter Horse, Paint, Appaloosa,
Mustang, etc.)
Follow
Judge and Ring Masters Instructions.
WESTERN
STALLION/GELDING HALTER: Open to any
Stallion or Gelding horse of western type breeds.
(Examples: Quarter Horse, Paint, Appaloosa, Mustang,
etc.) Follow
Judge and Ring Masters Instructions.
PONY
HALTER: Open to all
ponies 56” and under, a spotter is allowed in the
arena with an exhibitor under age 12, for safety.
Follow Judge and Ring Masters Instructions. Ponies
will be measured and recorded by name and
measurements before their first show.
PEE WEE
SHOWMANSHIP: (Exhibitor
12 & under), SHOWMANSHIP:
(Exhibitor 13 and over): These
classes will have a pattern posted throughout the
season. The
exhibitor is to be judged, the horse is a prop to
show the ability of the exhibitor. Points are
on the appearance of the horse and exhibitor and
showing in the arena.
May be asked to lead at a walk, trot, execute
a 360, 270,180, or 90 degree turn, back and pose
your horse. Points
on rider.
YOUTH
GAITED PLEASURE: (Riders 18 and
under), Open to any gaited horse, mule, or pony,
light or heavy shod acceptable, bands allowed, no
pads (including wedge pads), maximum of 8’’ shank on
bridle, shown naturally, no special apparatuses. Shown at a
walk and favorite gait, may be asked to back. Judged
on the way of going suitability as a trail mount. Western or
English tack/attire required.
JUNIOR
HORSE WALK TROT: Open to all
stock type horses 5 years of age or under with any
age exhibitor.
The horse may be shown with a bit, snaffle
bit or bosal. Horse
shown at walk and trot and asked to back. The Horse
CANNOT show in any Western Pleasure, Non Stock
or English class that requires a canter.
Horse
CAN be
shown in other Walk Trot Classes. Western or English
tack/attire required.
NO whips allowed. Proof of age
required.
LEADLINE: (Open to
any youth 6 and under.) Judged on
rider's ability.
Leader to provide safety only, leadline to be
loose. Show
at a walk both ways of ring and may be asked to
back. Rider
not eligible for any other Riding class except Pee
Wee Walk and speed classes. Halter and
Showmanship Classes allowed also. Western or
English tack/attire required. Points on
Rider.
PEE WEE
WALK CLASS: (Open to
Riders 12 and under)
Rider asked to Walk, Reverse and may be asked
to back. This class is designed for children who are
trying to graduate from lead line and just starting
their show career. Rider may ride any type
equine.
No Handler allowed. Parent’s/Guardians
may enter the ring but they must not touch or
interfere with rider or judges line of site, except
for safety matters. Rider is
not eligible for any other riding class,
except leadline and pee wee speed classes. Participation
in Halter and Showmanship classes are allowed. English or
Western Tack and attire are required. Points on
rider.
FLAG
RACE: SENIOR
(ages 19 and over), YOUTH
(ages 13 through 18), PEE WEE
(ages 12 and under). Two 5 gallon buckets filled
(within 3 inches from the top), with sand resting on
the top of two barrels (barrels are to be placed
next to the arena fence, one barrel or pole to mark
the course. Barrels
with sand buckets are set along the fence 30’ from
the starting line.
Rider may run the pattern in either
direction, but must pick up the flag and deposit the
flag from one bucket to the other. Pointed
end of flag must be deposited completely into the
bucket.
Disqualification:
Dropping
the flag during the race, striking the horse with
the flag, knocking over a barrel(s), knocking the
bucket(s) off the barrel, flag tip not in the
bucket. In the event of a timer malfunction a
re-ride will be given, the rider must again
successfully deposit the flag in the bucket.
PEE WEE
WALK TROT: (Rider 12
and under). Horse, mule or pony, (gaited excluded)
shown at a walk and trot, may be asked to back, will
be judged on riders ability. Rider not
eligible to show in any other pleasure, non-stock or
English class that requires a canter. English or
western tack/attire is required. Points on
Rider
OPEN
ENGLISH PLEASURE: Open to any
horse, mule or pony, any age rider, shown at a walk,
trot and canter.
May be asked to back. Hunt seat
or saddle seat attire and tack required.
PLANTATION
CLASS: Open to any
gaited horse, any age rider, light or heavy shod
acceptable, bands allowed, no pads (including
wedges), and maximum of 8’ shank on bridle. Shown
naturally, no special apparatuses. Shown at a
walk and running walk, and may be asked to back.
Western or English tack /attire required.
OPEN
ENGLISH EQUITATION: Open to any
horse, mule or pony, any age rider, shown at a walk,
trot and canter.
May be asked to extend trot, post with no
stirrups, hand gallop, and back. A pattern
will be posted throughout the season. Rail work is
at the discretion of the judge. Hunt seat or
saddle seat attire and tack required. Points
on Rider.
OPEN FOX
TROT: Open to Fox
Trotters only, any age rider. Shown at a
walk and a Fox Trot, may be asked to back. No
special apparatuses.
. Western
or English tack/attire required.
ADULT
WALK TROT: (Rider 19
and over), Horse, Mule, Pony, (gaited excluded)
shown at a walk and trot, may be asked to back, will
be judged on riders ability. Rider not
eligible to show in any other Western, Non-Stock,
Pleasure or English class that requires a canter. Western
or English tack/attire required. Points on
Rider.
NON STOCK
HORSE OPEN PLEASURE: (Open to
riders of any age.) Open to any non-stock breed
(Morgans, Arabians, Saddlebreds, etc.). Shown at a
walk, trot and canter and may be asked to back. . Western or
English tack/attire required. Horse
not eligible to show in Junior Horse, Pee Wee, Youth
or Senior Western Pleasure Classes. May
show in English classes and Open Western Pleasure. Horse may be
shown in Walk Trot class but with different rider.

Note:
As stated above the HORSE IS ALLOWED TO
SHOW IN WALK TROT WITH DIFFERENT
RIDER; BUT ANY RIDER THAT SHOWS IN THIS
CLASS IS NOT ALLOWED TO CROSS INTO WALK TROT
CLASSES.
BARRELS: SENIOR
(ages 19 and over), YOUTH
(ages 13 through 18), PEE WEE
(ages 12 and under), Three barrels to be placed in a
triangle with the 1st and 2nd
barrels opposite from each other and 20’ from the
fence, 30’ from the starting line and the 3rd
barrel should be 30’ from the end of the fence. Pattern
ran in left or right direction.
A 2 second
penalty for each barrel knocked down. Disqualification: Breaking
the pattern or hitting the horse in front of the
saddle. Rider
may palm the barrel.
GAITED
BARRELS: (Open
to all Gaited Equines/All Age Groups), Horse
must
walk and
/or favorite Gait
(Running Walk, Fox Trot, Pace, Rack, etc.) thru
entire pattern.
Disqualification:
Breaking into a canter more than two consecutive
strides any time during the pattern. All rules,
disqualifications and pattern specifications stated
above apply.
LIGHT
SHOD COUNTRY PLEASURE: (Open to any
gaited horse, pony, mule, any age rider): Maximum 3/8”
x ¾” shoe size.
No pads (including wedge pads), maximum of
8’’ shank on bridle, shown naturally, no special
apparatuses. Shown
at a walk and favorite gait, may be asked to back. Judged on
the way of going suitability as a trail mount. Western or
English tack/attire required.
YOUTH
WALK TROT: (Rider 13
through 18): Horse, mule or pony, (gaited excluded),
shown at a walk and trot, may be asked to back, will
be judged on rider’s ability. Rider not
eligible to show in any other pleasure or English
class that requires a canter. Western
or English tack/attire required. Points on
Rider
SENIOR
WESTERN PLEASURE: (ages 19 and
over). Open
to any western (stock type) breed of horse, mule, or
pony (gaited
excluded).
Shown at a walk, trot, canter, and asked to
back. Western
attire and tack required. No whips
allowed.
PEE
WEE/YOUTH WESTERN PLEASURE: (ages 18 and
under) Open to any western (stock type)
breed of horse, mule, pony (gaited
excluded).
Shown at a walk, trot, canter, and asked to
back. Western
attire and tack required. No whips
allowed.
OPEN
WESTERN PLEASURE: (open to all
age riders). Open
to any breed of horse, mule, pony (gaited
excluded).
Shown at a walk, trot, canter, and asked to
back. Western
attire and tack required. No whips
allowed.
POLE
BENDING: SENIOR (ages
19 and over), YOUTH (ages
13
through 18), PEE
WEE (ages 12 and under): to run
pattern around 6 poles, each pole 21’ apart and the
first pole 21’ from the starting line. This is a
timed event and the horse may use the right or left
pattern. There
is a 2 second penalty for knocking down the pole. Touching
the pole is allowed.
Disqualification: Not
following the pattern or hitting the horse in front
of the saddle.
OPEN
GAITED PLEASURE: (Open
to any age rider), Open to any gaited horse, pony,
mule, light or heavy shod acceptable, bands
allowed, no pads (including wedge pads), maximum
of 8’’ shank on bridle, shown naturally, no
special apparatuses.
Shown at a walk and favorite gait, may be
asked to back.
Western
or English tack/attire required.
EGG &
SPOON: SENIOR/YOUTH: (ages 13 and
over), PEE
WEE (ages 12 and under) Riders must keep the
egg on the spoon (without holding onto the egg)
while following the judges directions. Judge’s
instructions must be immediately followed or you
will be disqualified.
Points
on
Rider
Contestants may not enter the ring at a
run for any of the classes. All horses
will be assigned a number by the club. Riders
will not crowd their horses around the gates or the
announcer’s booth.
Riders must be ready to enter the ring when
their class is announced (unless a 3 minutes tack
change is needed).
In all speed events the exhibitor will give
his/her assigned number to the gate official before
entering the ring.
The judge or club officer will view
the timer during timed events and call out the time.
