For the week of 5950

At press time it was uncertian what if any action the new intermountain council would take in this matter as all three wizards involved are from Pyroto. The Reporter will bring more details as the story develops.
I used only drain and demote, so if, at some time, his status is changed and he is allowed to surface for good, he has suffered no damage that can't be reversed, easily. I'll be happy to pay for it if it comes to that. But I'm not holding my breath.
It was also Catriona who dunked Fellstar three weeks ago.
Did Fellstar get a raw deal? Or his just deserts? Tell us what you think, send your thoughts to Atypical Lemur (atypical_lemur@hotmail.com) and your comments might appear in next issue's feedback section. Please be sure to include your: Wizard Name, Robe Color, and home mountain so we may give you credit.
"The history of Pyroto fades with each day but it remains within our memories. I would like to try and capture the events that have molded Pyroto and compose it on a website for everyone to see."
"But in order to do this I need everyone's help. I'm asking that everyone put together a something about their memories and I'm going to use it to try and comply and accurate history of the land. This will not work though without the help of the land."
"Come to the newly created ether "history of Pyroto" and start posting your memories. I'll be by frequently to collect information and ask questions so that we can create the most accurate and informative history of the land." The Reporter encourages all wizards to share their stories on the new ether, and is proud to be part of the effort.
Lord Morpheus had this to say when reached for comment:
"Basically Lemur, it goes a little something like this:
With vitality falling down on our heads, I was really worried that the folks on Ri Shoo would decide to just up and quit the game like i'd seen a lot of my friends from other mountains did recently.
So, I was trying to figure out something fun we could do here to give folks a reason to keep playing everyday. And the way I figured to boost vitality is to make sure everyone posts. If you gotta reclimb you gotta keep the mentors happy right? So by forcing a bunch of us to climb, we post more and increase vitality. So one night Embyr and I were talking and I pitched the idea to her on ICQ and (she) helped me iron out the details."
For those of you who may be interested in playing next time around you can contact Lord Morpheus. Wizards from other mountains are welcome and encouraged to play. A brief listing of the Ri Shoo "Survivor" Rules follows.
1) Anyone interested will drop down to 0 on the decided day. And what we will have is a free-for-all up the slopes of Ri Shoo. And the winner is the first one to break through the vitality barrier.
2) Attack spells will be allowed. But no attack spells that attack esteem. So if you want to demote, or drain, or even promote an ally or bestow to an ally go for it.
3) No kami's will be permitted in this game. We're only out to have a bit of fun here not cause harm to our fellow players.
4) To make things more level because my teammates have a very large question list in the lower levels, we will ask that no question lists be used by anybody. We will be on an honor system obviously, but I hope that all will comply with this. Otherwise I know most of us would make it to the top in a day. And where's the fun in that? However if you want to start a list at the start of the game to refer back to if you get repeated questions, that's totally fine.
6) The game is open to anyone that wants to play. You can contact me at . . . if you wish to play. I will put a list together of people that want to play, and you will be given this list so that you know who's fair game if you want to demote some competition.
*Please remember, all attacks during the duration of the game, on the mountain of Ri Shoo, are all part of the game, and not to be taken personally.* Visit other great Pyroto related web sites.
I am Freewind. I am currently living on Ri Shoo with no intentions of leaving here. How I came to be here is due to many things.
I was born on Paz Clafi on 5658:949. At that time, I had been aware of the game for almost two months. I was introduced to the game of pyroto by another wizard, Zanzeeb, who is also a personal friend. She kept me posted on many events in the game. So I saw when the Teeming Millions hit the slopes like a rising landslide. I saw their migration to Paz Clafi. I knew of the Magenta Chicks and their migration to Iard Crimleu.
Another close friend of mine was as interested in the game as I was, so in June of 2000, we both signed on to the game. HE went to Broppsfar and I ended up on Paz Clafi. And because I had watched Zan as closely as I had, I knew some things. I knew about posting, and posting well. I knew that esteem is the necessary fuel to the climbing engine. But I still made one major mistake. I started climbing a bit too early with no real understanding of the inner workings of the game.
Powerclimbing... What a concept! I knew then that one of my ambitions would be to make sure that I would always have the necessary manna. At that point, I was at a plateau. I was having trouble getting questions I could answer in such a short time. Stuck at level 38. With an esteem of about 100. Time to start posting, as avidly as I could. But there were events happening on the other mountains, as well. By the time I had resumed climbing with a considerably better esteem (almost 400), a few of the wizards on the other mountains decided to try to end what they thought of as an irritation. This was in early September. One of the affected wizards was soup. he was finally invited to stay on Paz. Being only at 75th level at the time, and seeing trouble coming, I decided it was time to seek other pastures. The bands were too busy, and I couldn't keep up even when I could manage to log on twice a day. So I appealed to Zan who furnished me with the wherewithal to migrate to Iard. She didn't explain that there would be a loss of levels to go with all of that travel. I was shocked.
Iard was a very close climate of friendship. Much like Ri Shoo is now. I was warmly greeted and welcomed. I still try to do that myself. I remember well the feelings. Over the next three months, I continued to climb finally reaching the indigo. Iard became the second home to a number of the prodigals, as well. And we also lost a few very fine wizards. I know that there were some pretty serious words said on the magenta band but I only had a bit of hearsay since I couldn't read it myself. Then the "plains" became a fact. With it came a change in the color scheme and opening design. One of the wizards decided that as a protest, he would commit a random act of violence each day until the Servants changed things back. And since he was a magenta wizard, there wasn't all that much I could do about it. I began to think that this wouldn't be a good place to be if this continued. His first act was to catapult another wizard off into the "boonies". A wizard that wasn't around to defend herself. I protested on every band and ether channel which he had proclaimed his intentions. I also seriously considered Using the kamikazi spell at that point as well, but knew the loss in levels he would suffer would be negligible, although in retrospect, maybe I should have. The loss in esteem would have been much more painful to him. That was the final deciding factor in me moving off Iard.
But where to go? When I left Paz, I had been engaged in a conversation by contact with another wizard born about the same time as I was. After the initial migration, the contacts became long enough and serious enough that we traded email addresses. Those letters continued in the same vein, serious and sometimes a bit of whimsy. That wizard migrated from Paz to Ri Shoo sometime while I was on Iard. So I thought, "why not? I like this person a lot. Enough that I have been considering moving to Ri Shoo, off and on, for the last month. Let's find out if ..."
So I did move on to Ri Shoo. And I have discovered that it was truly the right thing to do. For no matter what the Servants have done, they have given me a great gift which I may never be able to repay. I came to this mountain on the 20th of December. That would be day 5832:1042 in Pyroto time. At the time of this writing, that would be 112 days ago. And though the days may seem dim on the mountain, my days are filled with light. And I will stay here, on Ri Shoo.

Reporter: Hi and thanks for taking the time to be with us today. To get the ball rolling, who exactly are the Denison Denizens and where did the name come from?
embyr: well, the denison denizens are me and my group of friends, that I hooked in the game. This particular name for us was given to us by Altru, because we are all students at Denison University. We like it better than the Ri Shoo Brat Pack (given to us by Synergy), or The Yellow Book Fiends (the name Alsiana made up for us). Right guys?
Becca-chan: Definitely. Denison Denizens has a better ring to it. Besides, I can say it around campus and people think I'm on a committee or something.
Alsiana: Alliteration is fun.
Reporter: On which mountain did each of you get your start in Pyroto?
embyr: I started out on Paz Clafi, I guess you could say I was born beyond the grey veil. Paz was a good mountain to start on, but now Ri is home.
Becca-chan: I was born on Bropps, though I don't remember much about it because I wasn't on very long before Synergy started her colonization of Ri Shoo.
Alsiana: I started of on Imaz but eventually, with the help of emrys(embyr), talked someone into catapulting me over.
Reporter: What made you choose to come to Ri Shoo?
embyr: It was just before Christmas break, and LM was back on Paz, looking for people to come to Ri and help colonize it. I liked the idea of a small mountain, where I wouldn't get lost when I was home and the internet was basically inaccessible. And I liked the fact that it would be a chance for me to make part of the history if the realm, I'd be important on a mountain so small. That is why I came, I think.
Becca-chan: embyr said "Go to Ri". I said "OK". What can I say, I was a naive newbie. I didn't know what I was getting in to *grin*. But now I wouldn't leave Ri for anything. Too many great people there.
Alsiana: I got talked into it.
Reporter: Would you ever introduce a friend from the flatlands to Pyroto?
embyr: Already have, where do you think these wannabe wizzies came from?
Becca-chan: Wanna-bees?
embyr: Yeah! Wanna-be's (not bees) And every chance I get, I introduce more people. I try to make sure they are the type of people who would enjoy the game, and such, and well, at least 2 of them have stayed, and become great wizards.
Becca-chan: Just now I'm trying to talk my boyfriend into joining. For the most part I don't know many people of the wizarding type.
Alsiana: I would if I had the time. Emrys has a lot of time, I think.
embyr: you're just jealous. you have the time. and if you got your boyfriend to sign up, you'd definitely be able to spend more time here. :)
Reporter: embyr, you told me that a+a=a and 3+4=2. Can you explain this?
embyr: Guys, you are going to have to help me on this one.
Alsiana: Well, 3+4=2 ~5. If you add 3 and 4 you get 7. Then you divide 7 by 5 and take the remainder. TaDaa. 2. There you have it. Of course, no one really cares about it since modular arithmetic is used mainly for encryption and such.
embyr: Alsi, I can do modular arithmetic, done it so often I'm sick of it, how about help explaining the other one?
Becca-chan: oh, Em, gimme an easy one, like alsi=insane.
embyr: Ummm. well a and a and a are sets. and + means intersection. so if you intersect set a, with set a, you will end up with, set a. Easy, huh? ok, so it's really confusing, now you know what we put up with day in and day out.
Reporter: Becca-chan, your tagline says "Founder of the Ramblings of a Crazy Mind Ether." Can you tell us something about that?
Becca-chan: Sure. Ramblings was founded for just that, rambling. I kept having strange ideas that I didn't really want to post on the bands (this was during my Bropps days) and embyr and I wanted to be able to talk since we were on different mountains (it didn't matter that we could yell across the room at each other. That's no fun). so em showed me the create spell and I started rambling. I've put up song parodies and long rambles about our killer attack room (lions and chickens and dolphins, oh my!). It's basically a place to go if you've got something to say that doesn't say anything.
Reporter: So if you're the founder, that must mean there are more crazy minds around. Could you tell us about the rumor I heard involving padded walls and medication?
Becca-chan: Well, actually the University did a lot to enforce that one. We were crazy enough to begin with and then one day this mattress shows up in my doorway (granted I had blown up the previous one). So technically for a while I did have a room with padded walls. You could get up a lot of speed just by running into the mattress and bouncing off it down the hall.
embyr: but we had just established the fact that we lived in an asylum for the sanity challenged(with Synergy and altrus help), so we went with it. Attacking rooms and fire starters and all. Ask Synergy (our nurse Rached) if you want more details.
Reporter: embyr, why did you decide to join a climbing team, and in particular the Pyro-Maniacs?
Becca-chan: It just went with her persona, no, actually it went with her karma. Haven't you heard of her attraction to fires? I mean our dorm microwave has caught on fire 3 times, and than all the fires she regales us with tales of, back in CA where she lives.
embyr: It isn't my fault. I just happen to, ummm, well . . . lemme change the subject
Becca-chan: she's good at that.
embyr: Becca! anyway, I knew that climbing teams were helpful after you got to blue, I was a member of one on Paz, and when I got to Ri, apparently the Pyro's had their eye on me. I liked the people in the team, so when they offered, I joined. I'm pretty glad I did :)
Reporter: If you were a food, what would you be?
Becca-chan: Cheese. I know what Altru would be, but I'm not telling. I'd have to be cheese to go with embyr's and Alsi's whine. :p
embyr: I don't know.
Becca-chan: Em would be something charred past recognition.
embyr: :p
Alsiana: Espresso. (need anyone ask?)
Reporter: Settle this one question for the numerous people out there, which one of you really is the caffeine fiend?!
Alsiana. I am not a fiend. I simply appreciate the better things in life. And I wouldn't make it through class without it.
embyr: ok, I admit it's me. if I drink coffee, tea, or soda, I'll be up till two am two days from now. Shows a serious addiction, huh guys?
Becca-chan: Yeah whatever, em. Last time I drank caffeine, I ended up swinging on the doors in front of my boss. She won't let me near caffeine again. But at least I handle it better than Em.
Reporter: What makes you keep coming back to Pyroto day after day?
Alsiana: The conversation.
Becca-chan: My hand hasn't fallen off yet.
embyr: The friends I've made. and the good times I've had.
Reporter: Thanks for your time and May TSOTL be with you as you ascend. Synergy is signing to me that it's time for some meds...

I've had some personal problems in the Flatlands that were the cause of my absence, but once these were resolved I couldn't wait to get back to the mountains. Of course there has been a great deal of change in the past few months: the consolidation, the introduction of vitality and the end of the Plains, to name some of the changes. It's still much the way I remember. I'm glad to be back and . . . RI SHOO FOREVER!!!

New Ether History of Pyroto
Awakened Senses (Pyroto) has created an ether dedicated to recording and preserving the history of Pyroto. Wizards are encouraged to visit this ether and share their memories of events past. Awakened Senses (Pyroto) had these comments to make:
Ri Shoo "Survivor"
Lord Morpheus was the first to win the Ri Shoo Survivor game by climbing from level zero to 175 without the assistance of a question and answer list. The game was a great success and a good time was had by all.
Stuck on a mountain far away from civilization, wizards will be called to do what has never been done in the history of the Realm, see who makes it to the top alive. The opportunities are endless; you can form alliances, go it on your own, do whatever it takes to survive . . . and have fun while doing it.
Atypical Lemur's PC locks up

Name Changes
Meet your Elders:
This week the Reporter speaks with . . . the Denison Denizens, three wizards from Ri Shoo that also are friends in the flatlands. The conversation was . . . well, judge for yourself. .
Question of the Week:
This week's question comes from Synergy who asks Atypical_Lemur the following: What did it feel like to return to Pyroto after a nearly-4-months
absence? What brought you back?
Atypical_Lemur: The short answer is that it feels like coming home. There is a great sense of community here in Pyroto and on Ri Shoo in particular and that is what drew me back.
Feedback:
