The five scientists who designed XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero in AC 180 went their own separate ways. Each one took copies of the plans for their original Gundam design. Instructor H, who went into hiding in the L4 colonies, as the other 4, who went into hiding in the L1-5 colonies, had all designed their own Gundam with the copies of Wing Gundam Zero. Instructor H had built the XXXG-01SR Gundam Sandrock, Specifically for pilot Quatre Raberba Winner. Quatre had no intention of helping out with Operation Meteor, but after arriving to Earth, met with the Maganac Corps in their direct fight against OZ and the oppressive Earth Alliance.
Gundam 04, which Sandrock was code-named by OZ, was the most heavily armored of the 5 gundams, launched for the New Operation Meteor. Its armor further lended the ability of its durability, besides the almost Indestructable Gundanium Alloy it was constructed with. Sandrock was also the strongest, better to use it's heavy Heat Shotels, which worked as an excellent pair of melee weapons and as throwing weapons. The heat shortels could also be coupled with the Sandrock's shield to form a Cross-Crusher," a large Pincer-like weapon capable of snapping mobile suits in two. The Gundam Sandrock was also equipped with a pair of Vulcans on its head, and two missiles.
