Good Things Come in Small Packages...
                  By Ryoko 03
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

"This is far too easy," Heero grumbled, carefully deleting all files
relating to OZ's cloning project.

Duo glanced away from the door he was guarding to offer his friend and
erstwhile lover a smirk. "Bitch, bitch, bitch," he teased. "You'd be whining
that it was too easy if there were two dozen soldiers out in the hall
shooting at us!"

"Two dozen in the hall *and* a troop of mobile suits at the window,"
Quatre added, laughing to himself at Heero's muttered reply. The Japanese
teen was far too serious at times. Which was probably the reason he
and the braided bishounen had taken it upon themselves to try to get
him to lighten up... at least in the bedroom.

Wufei shook his head and went back to searching the lab. Rumor had
it that OZ had actually managed to start the cloning process, which
meant that there had to be a couple of clones actually on location.
There were three rooms adjoining the lab, one that was empty and
one that Trowa was currently searching. This third room was empty
as well, so the Chinese pilot abandoned his search and went to see
what was taking the French/Latin pilot so long.

//Even if he *did* find something, he should have been done
by now,// he thought with a frown. Noting that Heero was still
locating and deleting files, the Chinese pilot slipped into the third
room where the object of his affection was sure to be found.

Although he had yet to admit it to anyone, Chang Wufei was *quite*
taken by the beautiful green-eyed pilot. He paid careful attention to e
verything he did, even discovering a few things along the way that
only made him grow fonder of his teammate. The slight reddish
highlights in his hair, the gold flecks in his eyes that danced in the light,
the unconscious grace with which he moved... everything about him
seemed angelic.

He found Trowa exactly where he'd expected, in the third room. The
brunette was standing at a control panel, attempting to hack into the
system and, so it seemed, completely ignoring the five cloning
chambers that were close by. His expression was one of intense
concentration, and he barely glanced up when Wufei entered
the room.

"Barton? What, exactly, are you doing?"

"Trying to shut down the chambers without destroying any of the clones."

"Why?" he asked, keeping his voice schooled so that his shock wasn't
apparent. "You know damned well that we are to destroy them before
we leave here."

"Fine." The emerald-eyed pilot turned and actually *glared* at his
teammate. "But before *you* do," he continued, "go look in those
chambers and see what, exactly, you are about to abort."

Trowa's choice of words was confusing. Wufei managed to hide that,
though, and shot back a glare of his own before moving over to the
first chamber and peering in. When he saw the cloned human inside,
though, he couldn't hold back a gasp of surprise.

Within the first cloning chamber was a child version of Heero Yuy.
The second chamber held a young Duo Maxwell, the third a tiny
Trowa Barton, the fourth a miniaturized Quatre Raberba Winner,
and the fifth a chibi version of himself.

The clones were the pilots themselves... much younger versions,
but the five Gundam pilots all the same. And suddenly, Wufei had
no desire to destroy the innocent duplicates.

~*~*~

Heero Yuy was sure that he was silently going insane.

The Japanese boy valiantly tried to continue working at his
laptop, but the insistent chibi-clone at his side was making it
*very* difficult to remained focused.

"Why is the sky blue? Why is gwass gween? Why isn't blue
gwass blue? Can I have a glass a water? Will you play wiff me?
I'm bored, Heewo! Can you make me a san'wich? Whewe did
Twowa go? Is it bafftime yet? I dun wanna baff tonight! Feifei
always spwashes me in the eyes and then I spwash him back
and then T'owa stawts cwying 'cause we get him too and we dun
mean to and then Woofei yells about justuff and--"

Who knew that Chibi Quatre could talk for so long without pausing
to breathe?

"Hn," he replied, trying to block out the child's voice once more.
However, things got worse.

Chibi Duo bounded into the room. "Quatty! Awe you in hewe?!"

"Haiiiii!!"

"QUATTY!" The braided child-clone enthusiastically glomped
the little blond and started jabbering a mile a minute. "Twowa went
out to get wunch and Woofei was gonna wead us a stowy but you
wewen't thewe so I comed to find you and hewe you awe! Whatchu
doin' in hewe an' not pwaying wiff me and Hee-chan? Dun you wike
us anymore?"

"I wike oo, Duuuuo! I was asking Heewo stuff, but he's a big
meanie an' won' answer me!"

//Dear gods, PLEASE strike me dead!!// Heero frantically prayed. He
was saved from attempted suicide by laptop by the arrival of one of
the only still-sane members of the 'household.'

"There you two are," Trowa said softly, smiling at the two little clones.
"You had Wufei worried, you know."

"We sowwy," two little voices chimed, drawing another gentle smile
from the green-eyed teen.

"That's okay. Come along now, Heero has a lot of work to do."

"Okies! Hi, T'owa!" Chibi Quatre greeted the chibi who was shyly
clinging to the bigger Trowa's leg.

"H'wo," Chibi Trowa said in a tiny voice, peering into the room to
blink at Heero before hiding his face again. Chibi Duo bounced out
the door and glomped his friend-brother happily.

"C'mon, T'owa, we go eat now!"

"Kay."

//Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, God, for at least letting
TROWA be able to deal with this!// Heero prayed before turning
back to his work once more. It may have seemed cold, but he
couldn't handle five little clones running around.

Chibi Quatre and Chibi Duo were a pair of tiny terrors. They were
constantly jabbering non-stop, to the point that Heero and Wufei
*both* were convinced that they were creating their own language.
Almost as bad was Chibi Wufei, who was constantly telling
everyone to "leave Two 'lone!" and, when not doing that,
asking a trillion questions at once.

Even Chibi Heero was a handful. The child climbed everything.
The child also fell *off* everything. And every time he fell, he
cried. Loudly. And he usually didn't stop until three of the teens
had come running and at least one other child was wailing in sympathy.

The only one that would have been a blessing would have been
Chibi Trowa if he weren't so terribly shy. From morning till night,
he was either *right* beside Chibi Wufei, hiding behind Chibi Duo,
clinging to Trowa's leg, clinging to Wufei, or crying when
Chibi Heero got hurt.

//Something has to be done,// Heero thought, a frown crossing his
face as he searched for new missions. //Those clones are driving me
insane, but I can't hurt them. Every time I look at them, I see that little
girl... but I can't handle being around them 24/7. Duo and Quatre should
have come back from their mission last week, and I *know* it went well,
but they're hiding because *they* can't handle it anymore than I can!//

Hiding... *that* sounded good, actually. But Heero wouldn't just run
off and leave Trowa and Wufei to try and control five chibis without
any help.

...or could he?

~*~*~

*THUMP* "Waiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!"

The moment he'd heard the thump, Trowa had rushed from the
kitchen--where he was making lunch with 'help' from Chibi Trowa
and Chibi Wufei--to see what mishap had befallen the Japanese
chibi clone this time. He arrived in the living room to find Chibi Heero
on the floor by the bookcase, wailing away as he usually did when
he fell off something he had attempted to climb.

"Hee-chan," he said with a sigh as he scooped up the crying child,
"didn't I tell you not to climb the bookcase anymore?"

"Uh-huh," the chibi sniffled, tears still falling from his large cobalt eyes.

"So why were you climbing it again?"

"I was twyin' to get dat book down," he replied, pointing to a
storybook on the top shelf. "I wanted to wead a stowy. I sowwy."

Trowa carried Chibi Heero into the kitchen, smiling at the sight of
Chibi Trowa and Chibi Wufei playing on the floor, and sat the
Japanese child on the counter. "Don't apologize," he said gently,
checking his charge over to make sure there were no cuts or scrapes,
then brushed a kiss to his forehead. "Next time you want a book,
though, ask me or Wufei to get it down for you, okay?"

"Kaybees, Twowa," Chibi Heero said, smiling a little and hugging the
tall pilot. "I wuv yoo!"

"Love you, too, Hee-chan," the green-eyed pilot said with a smile,
then set the child on the floor. "Now, you three play nice while I go
see what Du-chan and Quat-chan are up to."

"Okies!" Chibi Wufei said, beaming at Trowa and moving to glomp
Chibi Trowa--who blushed and giggled--before asking the third chibi,
"You wanna pway wiff our Gundams?"

Trowa smiled to himself as he left the kitchen, moving into the living
room again. Things had been quiet lately, ever since Heero had
vanished without a trace. He couldn't say that he was surprised;
the Japanese pilot had taken to working constantly and pining for his
absent lovers. It was only a matter of time before he took off like Duo
and Quatre had.

The thing that truly surprised the French-Latino pilot was the fact
that Chang Wufei was still hanging around.

It was incredible how much the Chinese pilot seemed to love the chibi
clones. He was the one who read to them at night, and the one who
watched them when Trowa had to run to the store for supplies. It was
Wufei who spent a majority of the time patching up Chibi Heero's
numerous injuries without complaint, and he never had one complaint
about taking care of so many little ones.

It was very cozy, and gave Trowa a feeling of domestic bliss. It had
taken him a long time to admit that he was falling for Chang Wufei,
and ever since they'd found the little clones at that OZ facility he had
fallen a bit deeper. Now that Heero had left, he reveled in spending time
alone with the Chinese bishounen. True, they didn't spend much time
alone, but he enjoyed it all the same. He loved the children as much as
he loved Wufei, and he wouldn't give up any of them.

"Why do cats purr?"

"Because they want to let people know when they are happy, Duo."

"So why don't lions purr?"

"I'm not so sure that they don't, Quatre. You'd have to ask Trowa."

"When's wunch? Me am hungwy!"

"So me too!"

Wufei laughed. "Trowa's working on it now, bois. Should we go see
how much longer it will be?"

"Haiii!"

Trowa smiled gently as he walked into the den to find Wufei on the
floor with the braided and blond chibis bouncing on his back. His soft
laugh drew the attention of all three, and within seconds he found the
bois both attached to his legs.

"Hihi, Twowa!" Chibi Quatre chirped, eyes sparkling.

"It wunch time now?" Chibi Duo asked hopefully.

Trowa smiled again and bent to pick up both children. "Hai, it's
lunch time. Come on, we have to get you two *and* Tro-chan,
Hee-chan, and Fei-chan cleaned up."

Wufei, who had pulled himself to his feet and been watching the
exchange with a small secretive smile, spoke up: "I'll finish up in the
kitchen, Tro, if you take care of the kids."

"Alright."

No sooner were the words out of their mouths than the three
bois who were *supposed* to be in the kitchen peer around the corner.

"Twowa, can we eat now?" Chibi Wufei asked, looking a bit
annoyed. "Two is hungwy, an so is Heewo and so me too!" Chibi
Trowa merely nodded from his spot behind the Chinese child,
while Chibi Heero chimed in with, "Wan' peanut butter."

Wufei laughed softly. "Hai, bois, we're going to eat in a minute.
You go with Trowa and get cleaned up, and I'll meet you all in the
kitchen, okay?"

~*~*~

Later that evening, while Wufei ran out to pick up a few supplies
that they would need for breakfast in the morning, Trowa tucked
the five chibi bois into bed. He read them five stories, one that
each had picked out, and gave each one a kiss before standing to leave.

"Twowa?" The emerald-eyed youth turned and blinked at his
chibified counterpart.

"Hai, Tro-chan?"

"Why did Heewo go 'way? Dun he wike us no more?"

Trowa sighed mentally. He really should have been expecting this;
after all, they had asked the same thing when the older Quatre and
Duo had taken off. He sat back down on the bed and brushed the
reddish-brown bangs away from the boi's face.

"Heero-san left because he missed Duo-san and Quatre-san," he said
gently. "He still likes you five, but he needs to be with them."

"Wike I need to be wiff Quatty and Feifei needs to be wiff T'owa?"
Chibi Duo asked innocently.

"Um... yes, I suppose so. But just because they aren't here
doesn't mean they like you any less. It just means they need to be alone for a while."

"Tha's okies, I guess," Chibi Heero said from his spot between Chibi
Wufei and Chibi Duo. "Just as wong as you an Woofei dun go 'way."

"I'm not going to leave," Trowa said, leaning down to kiss the Japanese
chibi clone. "I love you bois. I wouldn't even *think* of abandoning you."

"Do you wuv Woofei too?"

The slender bishounen turned wide green eyes to the blond chibi,
who was blinking innocently. "What?"

"Do you wuv Woofei?"

All five chibis were now paying close attention. They had been
disturbed, to say the least, when their 'uncles' had vanished. The
knowledge that their parent-figures weren't goin anywhere made
them feel a little better, but they wanted to know for sure that the
people taking care of them weren't lying to them when they
said 'I love you'.

Trowa sat quietly, wondering just how he should answer that
question. If he said 'no,' he would be lying to the children *and* to
himself. But if he said 'yes,' there would be no way to keep
pretending that he was perfectly content with just friendship.

After a moment, he drew in a breath and smiled at the five children.
"Yes," he said evenly, "I do. I love Wufei just like I love each of you."

Outside in the hallway, still hidden from view, Wufei stood frozen.
He'd heard the question, and he'd heard the answer. After a long time,
during which Trowa read the bois yet another story, the Chinese bishounen
moved away from the door and retreated to the living room. He had a
lot of thinking to do.

~*~*~

Trowa had only been in bed for an hour when a soft knock
dragged him out again. The French/Latino pilot mumbled
something about tying the kids down at night as he moved to
open the door, only to find that, for once, it wasn't Chibi Heero.

"Oh, Wufei," he said, immediately thinking he sounded idiotic
but then again he was tired. "Something up?"

The Chinese pilot felt bad for disturbing his friend, but he'd finally
come to terms with what he'd heard earlier, and he wanted to reveal
his feelings before he lost the nerve. He drew a deep breath and
asked, "Can I come in for a minute?"

Trowa nodded and stepped aside to allow his friend to enter, then
pushed the door half-way closed; he never knew when the
Japanese child would make an appearance. It was odd how the boi
never seemed to stay in his own room for the entire night, but the
brunette shrugged it off. It had to be some sort of 'kid thing' that
he had missed out on.

Wufei sat down on the edge of the bed, waiting for the other teen
to join him before he spoke: "Did the bois give you any trouble
this evening? I know they're used to me reading them their
bedtime story, but...."

"Iie," Trowa replied, smiling slightly in spite of how worn out he
was from chasing after the five chibis all day. "They were perfect
angels... but somehow I doubt you read them six stories before
you tuck them in."

"No, just one... most of the time." The sloe-eyed teen smiled slightly,
then said, "They certainly do ask a lot of questions, though."

"...yeah, they do."

"Although, I *am* a bit surprised that they haven't asked about our
relationship to one another."

"..." Trowa blinked at Wufei, slowly putting two and two together.
"You overheard, didn't you?"

"Hai."

"Ah." The emerald-eyed teen licked his lips, which were
suddenly way too dry, and began to pluck at the edge of the blanket.
About five minutes passed in silence before he spoke again: "I meant it."

"I know."

"And you're okay with it?"

Wufei cleared his throat and waited until Trowa lifted his gaze again.
Once their eyes met, he said, "Actually, I've been trying to figure
out how to tell you that I've fallen for you."

"Na...?" Trowa said, completely stunned. He hadn't even dared
to hold on to the hope that the feeling was mutual, and this
revelation left him reeling. "Honto desu ni? You aren't just trying
to make me feel better or some--"

The Chinese boi waited for the right moment to cut off the flow
of words, leaning forward and claiming the stammering teen's lips
in a sweet and undemanding kiss. Trowa squeaked slightly in surprise,
then relaxed and returned it with almost heartbreaking innocence.
The kiss never grew demanding, but it was filled with a gentle passion
that left both teens breathless when they parted.

The slender teen then embarrassed himself by yawning. "Oh! gomen...
I didn't get much sleep last night...."

Wufei smiled and gave the boi another kiss. "Completely understandable.
You need your sleep, Tro. I'll go check on the bois and then turn in myself."

"Um... if you want... anou... you can sleep here...." Trowa was quite
certain that his face was red, and he wondered why he even offered.
But the thought of the ebony-tressed teen leaving after finally
revealing his true feelings was undesirable to say the least.

Onyx eyes blinked, then smiled as Wufei nodded. Wordlessly,
Trowa climbed back into bed as his love stripped away the
ever-present tank top before joining him. The new couple curled
up together and soon drifted off into a peaceful slumber,
each wrapped warmly in the arms of the one he loved.
