Movies?
Throughout the 1800's, many inventors played with ideas that would make a picture move. Joseph Plateur, Belgian scientist, invented something he called the phenakistoscope in 1832. It consisted of two disks a few inches apart that, when rotated at the same speed, the pictures he placed on the disks appeared to move.
With the help of Hannibal Goodwin, the man who invented celluloid film, and George Eastman, the man who invented the photographic equipment, Thomas Edison and William Dickson started working on the kinetoscope, which held about 50' of film and while looking through a peephole, you could see moving pictures. In 1894 Edison opened the Kinetoscope Parlor in New York, where people could see a two minutes of moving pictures. Edison later thought that the movies were going no where, and stopped working on this project.
While the US was in their movie fad, French brothers Auguste and Louis Lumiere worked on their own inventions, which would end up being their first projection machine (02-12-1895), and their first film (04-28-1895). The Lumieres are responsible for showing the first projected film in public, LArrivee d'un Train en gare.
In the US, Edison continued work on the kinetoscope. On April 23, 1896, at Koster and Bial's Music Hall in New York, Edison presented his first projected film. The first recognized American cinema, was Vitascope Hall, which opened on June 26, 1896. The theatre had 400 seats and its movies were very short.
By 1909, the movie company industry was huge. Thomas Edison didn't like the fact that what he invented was making so many people money but him, so he teamed up with a couple of studios and made the Motion Picture Patents Company and then organized the General Film Company to distribute films to theatres and get rid of the smaller companies.
Ever since, many corporations have lost their money and failed, and others such as Warner Brothers and Dreamworks have succeeded. Edison later died, but many new things have come out since then, including the VHS, DVD, and IMAX theaters.

Halloween H20
H20- This Halloween was probably the best one out of the series. After Michael Myers was "supposedly" killed. He comes back 20 years later, in 1998 to seek revenge on his sister Keri Tate (Jamie Lee Curtis). Keri had a son that is now 18 and is going to college. Keri has a deep secret hidden in her that haunts her every October 31st. After faking her death in a car accident as Laurie Strode, she changed her name and moved to California so her brother couldn't find her. But now Michael is on another killing spree, and he is just "dying" to kill his sister. Featuring, Josh Hartnett, and LL Cool J. If you haven't seen this Halloween, you should rent or buy it immediately!!

Jason X
Jason X - This Horror movie wasnt really scary, but kind of gory. This is the tenth Friday the 13th
Movie, it takes splace in 2445. This Girl freezes Jason. Then 400 years later this teens unfreeze him.
In a space ship,he comes and kills the teens, who like to have sex. This movie was okay, not
really super scary or funny. And the plot was weird. Had TONS o' sex :) :). And it takes place in space.
Movie is pretty gory as I might say. Jason has got upgrades. (???) I woud reccomend this movie
for older viewers, has some violence and sex. Rated R of course. It is kinda a complete wate of money,
the other 9 Firdays were better in MY OPINION. It is 93 minutes of gore and sex. Starring Kane Hodder
as Jason, directed by Jim Isaac, this movie is okay, not super good. I recomend you people watch
the first Fridays First.

Others, The
The Others - Nicole Kidman plays a protective mother by the name of Grace who has two children that are allergic to light. She is alone in a house that is surrounded by fog and forest because her husband is off in a war. She is left to care for her children with the help of an odd set of housekeepers. The movie has an interesting theory and one of the best endings I have seen in a while!

Spiderman
Spiderman - This was a movie that was packed with great action and was easy to enjoy. There were no very violent scenes, just people fighting and New York's building on fire from an evil green man. Cursing was not a problem, there were maybe 2 or 3 in the whole film. It starts off very well, the plot has room for many more sequels, and it even has some romance in it. The movie almost wants you to go get bit by some mutant spider so you too can have all of this fun. Starring Gerry Becker, Bill Nunn, Jack Betts, Stanley Anderson, Tobey Maguire, Willem Dafoe, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, Cliff Robertson, Rosemary Harris, J.K. Simmons, Joe Manganiello and directed by Sam Raimi.

Spy Game
Spy Game - Brad Pitt plays a CIA operative and during the present time of the movie, he is held a prisoner in China after being accused of espionage. His old friend and teacher, whom Robert Redford plays, comes to the rescue. While Redford is explaining his story to the CIA, a series of flashbacks come that follow the two men through Vietnam, Berlin, and pther places. At times, it is hard to keep up with, but you will get the hang of it. There is no real big surprise at the end, there isnt much blood, and there isnt too much mystery. It is just a movie that you watch that gives you a lot of "what if" questions. Directed by Tony Scott (Enemy of the State).

The Lord of the Rings
The Lord of the Rings - Well, there are many stories with the same plot in a way. The world is about to end, and a hero comes and saves the planet! The Lord of the Rings is alittle different though. I believed it was filmed in New Zealand, which is some of the most beautiful land I have ever seen. The graphics were outstanding. Lots of make-up and costumes, but it all turned out good. I can't remember, I think it was 3 or 3 1/2 hours long, which is a long time to wait, but it is well worth it. I suggest reading The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings before seeing the movie, but this may not happen. So you could go see the movie and then read the book! It is all good. Personally, I think it is a wonderful movie. I have seen better, but I think this might be the best "fantasy" movie I have ever seen.

The Scorpion King
The Scorpion King - It is an Action movie that deals with early Egypt. The Rock (Dwayne Johnson)
Stars in it as The Scorpion King. He was introduced in "The Mummy Returns" (Which
The half Scorpion half Human S.K. was WAAAY better in my opinion) The action was pretty good, and the fighting
was great. But the Rock always had a serious face, but he is a wrestler. The sword battles are really great.
This movie is pretty violent, doesnt show alot of people when they die. And the special effects
are great, ofcourse on the ants part, they looked pretty real. It is rated PG-13 for Violense, and also,
sensuality, of ALMOST showing nudity, hair covers it, or the hands do. This movie's Genre is Action, though it has
some funny parts in it, it has lots of action, and it is an Adventure movie. The movie is kind of confusing. Scorpion King
must defeat a evil strong emperor named Manma (?) who is going to take over a village. It is a pretty good movie as I say.
