Kirara

First Appearance: Episode 24

A cat youkai that is capable of turning into a huge sabertooth tiger. Kirara is Sango's pet and partner when exterminating youkais. Sango usually rides her for better movements when fighting youkais or just ride her because she's tired from walking. Kirara might not be the most noticable characters in the series, but has helped InuYasha and the gang one time or another. Kirara usually takes Kagome back to the well so she can return to her time or get some supplies, she also helps Kagome get to higher ground for safty or better aim with her arrow. Kirara helped InuYasha perfect Kaze no Kizu, although that resulted in temporary hair lost. Kirara acts as a pillow for Shippou when he sleeps. And finally, helps Miroku attract girls, since Kirara is so "cute" when its small, and helps Miroku scare away frisky old ladies by turning into the large sabertooth. As you can see, Kirara has helped the group member number of times, although it may not be that noticable. InuYasha and the gang might not have gotten as far as they did without Kirara's assistance. Kirara plays an important role in the development of the characters.
