 Naraku is the main evil villian of the anime... Hes the one demon who causes almost all the trouble, from A to Z. Hes the cause of Miroku's black hole, Sango's dead family, InuYasha and Kikyo's "problems", Kouga's dead clan and all the bad stuff that happens... He was originally a human, back some 50 years, named Onigumo. (Meaning Ogre spider) Onigumo was a crippled burnt man who lived in a small cave near Kikyo's village. He had "dirty" thoughts for Kikyo, and was so consumed by evil that he was "swallowed" up by hundreds of demons. Onigumo couldn't do anything with his body and so, used his negative energy to draw other demons to him. They made an agreement and thus, he and the demons were transformed into the evil villian we know now; Naraku. Naraku almost never does the dirty work himself, but uses wooden dolls that are replicas of himself. Hence, InuYasha and the rest can never find the real Naraku. Naraku is however, also a Hanyou because Onigumo is part of him. The wacky part about Naraku is that; the Onigumo part of him loves Kikyo, yet the Naraku part of him hates and wants Kikyo dead. Naraku also has "detachments" of himself, and constantly needs new bodies. He creates them by combining demons and such. Detachments are the extras that he doesn't need and these include Kagura, Goshinki, and Kanna... Naraku can regenerate his body again and again, so wounds given by InuYasha can easily be healed. Naraku also can use a poison attack called "shouki" or "miasma" which to my knowledge, means baboon...If you didn't realize, Naraku dresses himself up as a monkey, and nobody really knows his true identity. On a side note, Naraku's name literally means "hell" |
