Shinta VS Bandit Troop |
This is the first fight that we see in the Rurouni Kenshin OVA, Samurai X. I put it here beacuse it is pretty important. Shinta (Kenshin's real name) is traveling with a band of slave traders. He is going to be sold as a slave. He's only about 5 or 6 years old. A troop of bandits come and start attacking and killing the slave traders for no reason. Shinta believes that because he is the only boy that he should protect his 3 new friends who are selling themselves as slaves to help their sick parents. However, his 3 friends beg the bandits to spare Shinta's life because he is only a child. In front of his eyes, Shinta's 3 friends are killed. As he is about to be killed himself, Hiko Seijuro the 13th rescues him. This leads to Hiko's eventual "adoption" of Shinta. Hiko renames Shinta "Kenshin" and teaches him the way of the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu.

Kenshin VS Kiyosato |
This fight is a very important fight of The Rurouni Kenshin OVA, Samurai X. It is during this fight, that Kenshin recieves the first half of his cross-shaped scar. Kiyosato was Tomoe's fiancee. Kenshin was assigned to kill Kiyosato because he was associated with a pro-government organization. During their fight, Kiyosato was so desperate to live and see Tomoe again that he was able to slash Kenshin's left cheek. However, it was not enough to kill Kenshin and his life ended that night. This is the first fight that you see Kenshin hesitate in. After this fight, his scar bleeds everytime he kills. He begins to doubt whether or not what he is doing is the right thing. Then he meets Tomoe...

Kenshin VS Tomoe's Leader |
This is the last major fight of the Rurouni Kenshin OVA, Samurai X. It takes place after Kenshin is informed that Tomoe (his fiancee) is a traitor and that he is to kill her. A confused, scared, lonely, and depressed Kenshin slowly makes his way to where Tomoe has gone. Along the way, he's beaten up by a bunch of people who are trying to prevent him from getting to Tomoe. However, he makes it there badly beaten up. Even though he is considerably injured, he fights the leader of Tomoe's group in order to free Tomoe and take her with him. Right as he is about to kill the leader, Kenshin is blinded for a moment while Tomoe runs in front of the leader. He accidentally slashed his own fiancee. As she is dying in his arms, she asks him to throw away his life of killing. Before she dies, she gives him the last half of his scar, which now made a cross on his left cheek. ;.;

Kenshin VS Jin-E |
This is the first great fight in the Rurouni Kenshin TV series. Jin-E contacts Kenshin and challenges him to a duel. Jin-E is interested only in bringing the Hitokiri Battousai out of Kenshin the Wanderer and changing him back to the evil assasin. However, Kenshin knows that he can defeat Jin-E without killing him. That is, until Kaoru is kidnapped by Jin-E right in front of his eyes! Kenshin showed up to rescue Kaoru and the fight began between the two hitokiri's under the moon. During the fight, Jin-E realized that Kenshin was not reverting to Battousai. In order to make the Battousai come out, he put a spell on Kaoru that would prevent her from being able to breathe. The only way Kenshin would be able to save Kaoru now, was to kill Jin-E and break his vow. As he was about to kill Jin-E, Kaoru yelled, "Kenshin STOP!" and got the spell off herself (something neither Jin-E nor Kenshin thought she could do). Kenshin rushed to Kaoru's side and untied her. Jin-E then killed himself.

Kenshin Gumi VS Oniwabanshu |
Kenshin and Sano meet Takani Megumi after Sano learns of his friends death caused by an OD of opium. Megumi runs into where Sano and Kenshin are gambling and sees that Kenshin has a sword. She begs him to rescue her from her pursuers. Kenshin and Sano take care of them easily and they take her back to the dojo. Kenshin learns more about Megumi and finds out that she is involved in an illegal opium trade under the leadership of a man named Kanryu. She escaped from him because she hated making opium. However, he was after her again and she needed help. Kenshin agrees to help Miss Megumi. Megumi is eventually kidnapped by Kanryu and the Kenshin Gumi go to her rescue. They are "greeted" by the famous ninja clan The Oniwabanshu. Sanosuke fought Hyottoko and Shikijou, and Kenshin took on Hannya. Kenshin's fight with Hannya proved to be difficult even for the famous Hitokiri. For some reason, no matter how far Kenshin dodged, Hannya would still hit him! It wasn't until Kenshin figured out that the stripes on Hannya's arm were making his arms appear shorter than they actually were, that he able to defeat the illusionist Hannya.

Kenshin VS Aoshi (1) |
Ice Blue Eyes VS Heart of Sword! The leader of the ninja clan Oniwabanshu and the Hitokiri Battousai face off! If Kenshin wins this, Megumi is free! The fight began and Aoshi charged forward with his Kodachi. It was a strange thing to see someone fighting with a short-sword like a kodachi to Kenshin. However, it proved to be a match. Afeter several hits, Kenshin found a way to counter Aoshi's Kodachi. Instead of holding his sword at the hilt, he held it in the middle of the blade. Now Kenshin could use a sword the same length as Aoshi's! With blood pouring from his hand, Kenshin delievered some critical counterattacks! However, Kenshin and Aoshi's fight was rudely interrupted by Kanryu's gatling gun!!!

Kenshin VS Raijuta |
After Raijuta so mercilessly hurt Yutarou, and after so many lives were ended because of his stupid hopes of a Samurai kingdom, Kenshin had no choice but to put Raijuta in his place. Basically, Raijuta pointlessly tried some fancy attack. Kenshin's shirt got ripped off (^_^!) and his wrist got cut a little. Raijuta was like "haha I cut your wrist" but then Kenshin used a Do Ryu Sen and finished the fight up with a Ryu Tsui Sen.

Kenshin VS Saitoh Hajime |
Finally, the best fight of the entire 1st season and one of the best fights out of the whole series! Hitokiri battousai VS The Mibu Wolf!
The battle from the Bakumatsu had continued at the Kamiya Dojo. Kenshin had returned home after fighting Akamatsu in a field. A letter written by Saitoh had told Kenshin to meet him there, but Saitoh never showed up. The reason was because Saitoh, posing as Fujita Goro, entered the Kamiya Dojo and waited for Kenshin's arrival. When the sun had set, the battle begun. Saitoh sprung forward with his Gatotsu. Kenshin leapt up to avoid it and came down with a Ryu Tsui Sen. To Kenshin's surprise, Saitoh had an anti-air Gatotsu, which hit him in stomach. Kenshin had barely avoided being skewered, but he was left stuck on Saitoh's sword.
Saitoh laughed and mercilessly flung Kenshin off of his sword and straight into a wall. When Kenshin got up, again, Saitoh charged with the Gatotsu. This time, Kenshin managed to block it, however Saitoh just flung the tiny Samurai right back into the wall. Saitoh prepared to finish him off. Kaoru made her way into the battle and took a stand before Kenshin. She did not want to see the man she loved be hurt any more. She stood defiantly, eyes filled with tears, between Kenshin and Saitoh. She demmanded that Saitoh stop the fight at once. Kenshin stood up and pushed her aside. However, there was something different about the was he looked at Kaoru. His eyes were narrow and yellow. Kenshin had reverted back to the Hitokiri Battousai! The fight continued. With more power and speed, Kenshin charged for Saitoh. It looked as though Kenshin had disappeared for a moment, but when Saitoh's eyes focused on the Rurouni, he kicked him, sending him back into the wall.
Saitoh again used the Gatotsu. Kenshin was ready this time. When Saitoh charged, Kenshin ducked and backhanded Saitoh's neck with his Sakabatou. Even with Saitoh grazed a bit, the battle still continued. Kenshin and Saitoh clashed their swords repeatedly until Saitoh finally pushed Kenshin up against a wall. Out of desperation, Kenshin kneed Saitoh in the jaw and leapt over him. The police officer spat out blood, and with it, a tooth. In rage, Saitoh charged forward. Foolishly, he left his katana blade wide open, to be cut off by Kenshin. However, broken sword or not, Saitoh stood in a Gatotsu stance.
Instead of trying to hit Kenshin with an actual Gatotsu, Saitoh threw his broken sword at Kenshin. Kenshin swatted the broken weapon away with his left arm. Receiving a large cut on his hand was better than being left open. Everyone watching, Kaoru, Yahiko, Sanosuke, and Megumi, thought that Saitoh would now be helpless against Kenshin. Yet, everyone was surprised when Saitoh used his own belt to slap Kenshin's hand, forcing him to drop his Sakabatou. Saitoh punched the helpeless Rurouni repeatedly. While stunned from the blows, Kenshin was left staggering. Saitoh took advantage of the situation and tied his bulky police jacket around Kenshin's small neck.
With his jacket, Saitoh was trying to break the fragile bones in Kenshin's neck. Kenshin struggled to break free. Using quick thinking, Kenshin pushed down on his scabbard. The scabbard's other end hit Saitoh in the chin. The hit was just enough to loosen Saitoh's grip. Once Kenshin was free, he took heavy breaths. Both men were exhausted from their battle. Before it could continue, however, Saitoh was stopped by Toshimichi Okubo, the man he was working for. The battle had gone too far. The battle was meant to only to measure the fighting ability of Kenshin to see if he was fit to face Shishio Makoto. Kenshin punched himself in the face and his eyes returned to normal. He apologized to Kaoru and she was so relieved that he was back to normal that she jumped into his arms and gave him a big hug. The very wounded Kenshin exclaimed "Oro..." as Kaoru realized that she had hugged him in the area where most of his wounds were recieved. Kaoru screamed for Megumi's help and very girlishly yelled "Kenshin Don't DIE!" It was a good bit of humor to end a very serious fight.
