Rurouni Kenshin is the tale of Himura Kenshin, a wandering swordsman who is forever haunted and bound to his past by the cross-shaped scar on his left cheek. Through many twists of fate, Kenshin ends up living for free with a Kendo Master name Kamiya Kaoru.

Kaoru soon learns of Kenshin's dreadful past as the greatest Hitokiri (assasin) of the Ishin War. He killed countless people, and remembers each kill... He was the prime target of every pro-government group during the war, yet none of them could slay the invincible Hitokiri Battousai...

After accidentally killing the one he loved most and gaining the symbol of his eternal remorse, his cross-shaped scar, Kenshin made a vow to never kill again. He poured his strength into his vow and became another legend.
