Nicodemus D Pyatte (sometimes listed as Nickolas) was born April 1, 1854 in North Carolina (probably Yancey or Watauga County) to Leander and Frances Matilda Carpenter Pyatte and died September 28, 1932.
Nick first appeared with his parents on the 1860 census at age 6 as 'Nicodemus' in Mountain Home Township, Watauga County, North Carolina. When Nick was about 9 years old, his father was killed in the Civil War. They evidently moved to Mitchell County, North Carolina sometime before the 1870 census. His mother did not remarry until 1877 when Nick was grown and married. Both marriages probably occurred in Mitchell County, North Carolina.
Nick married Charity R Frank who was born November 29, 1853 and who died January 19, 1943.
Nick and Charity had the following known children:
- Verdi L Pyatt (daughter) b: c1874 NC
- William B Pyatt b: c1878 NC
- Agnes Pyatt b: c1879 NC
