Pyatt's of Crawford County, Missouri

BENJAMIN PYATT Benjamin Pyatt, son of William Pyatt was born in Indiana 1813. He was oldest of seven children. He came to Crawford Co. in 1830's soon after he married Avis Eggers, born 1814, Ohio. Benjamin and Avis had eight children. Elizabeth, the first child, b. 12-15-1838, Mo., married James Wooley 12-1-1859, d. 7-28-1910, buried Martin Cemetery. Sarah, second daughter, born, Mo., 1840. Their oldest son, William, born Mo., 1841, married Emily Bryant. Daughter Mary J., b. 1842, Mo. John, second son, b. 3-5-1844, Mo. Married Mary Tinker, d. 1-30-1918, buried Martin Cemetery. Their son, Daniel Washington b. 1-29-1846, Mo. married Margaret A. (Bryant) Duke, b. 2-16-1936, married on 3-17-1867. Margaret was daughter of William and Mahaley Bryant. Benjamin Jr., b. 1849, Mo. Avis (named after her mother), b. 1851, Mo., married Harrison Tinker. Benjamin and Avis were farmers. Benjamin died early 1850's and on 5-11-1854 his brother, Elijah, married his widow, Avis. Elijah and Avis built a log house on their homestead called Pyatt Hollow and raised the eight children. Avis's son, Daniel and Margaret (Mary) raised their seven children in that log house. Her grandson Daniel Washington (Wash) also lived there. Most of his children were born in that log house too.

BENJAMIN & AVIS (EGGERS) PYATT Benjamin Pyatt b. 1814 in Indiana, was one of early settlers of south Crawford Co., he settled in the area which is called "Pyatt Hollow" and this is how it got name of Pyatt Hollow. His wife was Avis Eggers, born 1814 in Indiana. One of their sons, John Pyatt, b. 3-5-1844 in "Pyatt Hollow" served in Civil War, Co. G 48th Mo. Inf., enlisted 8-28-1864 in Steelville, discharged 6-29-1865. John married Mary Tinker, 10-30-1870, parents were John Harrison and Nancy Ann Byers. Mary and John spent their marriage in east Dent Co., but when John died, 1-30-1918, he was brought back to Martin Cemetery at Cherryville. Mary Tinker Pyatt lived to be 98 years old (b. 5-6-1865 d. 6-14-1953),{my note: couldn't be right, or she would've married at age 5. MCP} Sapulpa, Ok. buried Boss Cemetery, Boss, Mo. Children: Daniel Franklin, married Sally Stricklin of Iron Co., Mo., d. 3-20-1944, buried in Iron Co. near Bixby (Pump Cemetery). William Harrison, "Bud", b. 11-28-1876, d. 3-16-1958, Salem, married Mary Beers, 12-13-1892, buried Boss Cemetery. James Timothy, b. 11-26-1876, d. 3-11-1973, married Minnie Nelson 11-15-1900, daughter of Marion and Martha Nelson. John Edward, b. 8-10-1879, d. 8-16-1966, married Augusta Turnbough 9-11-1902, daughter of George Turnbough and Vina Tinker (nee) Newton of Crawford Co. Newton, b. 1885, married Effie Stricklin 12-25-1903, Iron Co., Mo., living Boss, Mo., age 102. Lavada, b. 1885, married Wm. Farmer and moved to Montana. Thomas Jefferson, b. 8-25-1888, married Bessie Hogan of Howes Mill, daughter of Pleasant and Laura (Conaway) Hogan. Lora, b. 1891, married first a Nelson, second a Keller, third a Clapp, moved to Montana. Martha, married a Causey, died Sapulpa, Ok. One daughter died infancy, buried Lower Indian Creek Cemetery.

BLANCHE PYATT Blanche Pyatt nee Carl, daughter of Ray B. and Grace Laramore Carl, moved to Davisville in 9-1944. She bought the old C. Collier place and has lived ther since coming to Crawford Co. Blanche raised 8 children here: Juna married Harold Sawyers, have one son Douglas, live in St. Charles, Mo.; Virginia married Cliff Towner, have two sons and one daughter, Bobby, Keith and Sharon, live in Sharon, Ma.; Helena married William P Long, have two sons, Paul and Scott and live in Davisville; Clyde Jr married Sharon Turnbough, have one daugther Joyce and a son Jeffrey, live at Davisville; John married Linda Gilliam, have a son John Jr and a daughter Rebecca, live at Davisville; Ronald married Betty Brooks, have two sons Ronnie and Steven and a daughter Wendy, live at Davisville; Linda married Ronnie H Green, have two sons Brian and Kevin and a son who died at birth, Philip live in St. Louis; Mike the youngest died in a car wreck at Dillard, 10, 1977. He was living in St. James at the time. The only grandchild married is Paul Long who married Brenda Gibson.

CALVIN ANDY PYATT Calvin Andy Pyatt b. 7-14-1894 Davisville, son of Rev. James A Pyatt b. 10-12-1869 d. 4-8-1937 and Laura Alice Yarberry b. 1-25-1869 d. 10-4-1919, both buried Turnbough Cemetery. Calvin first m. 12-12-1913, Madge E Harris b. 9-18-1894, d. 1-11-1931, Martin Cemetery. They had four chilren, all died young, except Dora Pyatt, first married Harold Wilson, second a sefiert. Calvin remarried 8-31-1931, Pearl Elsie (nee Collier) Lea b. 8-13-1883, d. 9-30-1923 Martin Cemetery. She was daughter of Cornelius Collier b. 1865 d. 1940 and Mary (Holzschuh) Collier b. 1866 d. 1918, Davisville Cemetery. Children: Cecil Pyatt m. 1-3-1960, Connie Souders, have 6 children: Lorene Alice Pyatt b. 3-4-1934 m. Robert Clark "Dick" and Frona Mae Trask Martin, have six children. Pearl and Eddie Lea's children are: Lilly Mae, Edith, Fredda, Nellie, and Howard who all died young, and Stella, Fannie (Ware), Lloyd and Gladys (Green).

CLARENCE ESCO PYATT Clarence Esco Pyatt, was born near Cherryville, Mo. in Crawford Co. at a place called Pyatt Hollow, 2-16-1901, son of Daniel Washington and Cara (Anderson) Pyatt. He met Eula Ann Green who was born at Davisville, Mo. Crawford Co., 2-23-1902, daughter of Eugene Wesley and Martha Jane (Gregory) Green. Esco and Eula were m. 10-19-1921. He farmed and cut railroad ties for a living. She always helped keep a garden and sometimes worked in the field helping him farm until all the children got big enough to take her place. Around 1930, he moved to a farm near Sligo, Mo., to help his brother-in-law, Harry Green farm. Then about 5 years later he moved back to Davisville. Esco and Eula accepted Christ at the early age of 21. Esco became a bible scholar and he taught a bible class for 40 years. Esco and Eula had 11 children, 7 boys and 4 girls: James W b. 8-12-22, married Ruth Marie Cash b. 12-8-1923. They had one daughter, Cindy Kathleen and she married Ronald Autry and they have three children: Scott, Zachary, and Sarah. Eugene Raymond b. 5-20-24, married Lena Evans b. 10-24-1923 of Davisville. They had one daughter, Glenda Jean. She married Michael Turner and they had four children: Kelly, Tracey (deceased) and twins, Scott and Katie. Charles Otto b. 11-16-1925, married Betty Lou Jarvis, 11-26-1947, Springfield, Mo. They have a daughter Armelda Marie who married three times. The first was George Chesser. They have two daughters Elizabeth and Christina. The second time she married Frank Pontus, had one son Frank. The third time married Charles Steven, one daughter Amy Michelle. Jesse Leroy 10-21-27 to 10-19-29. Easter Lilly b. 4-20-30 on Easter Sunday, married Robert Baughman from Ohio, have two daughters Beverly and Roberta. Beverly married Gary Cobb. Elsie Van b. 2-3-32 married Glen Ahner, 3 sons: Dennis, Michael, and Marc. Harry Edward b. 11-25-34, married Mable Swyers b. 5-17-1935, have four children: Linda Jean, married John Pitmer, Keith married Kathy Plackmeyer, and Kevin and Kent. Betty Ann b. 12-13-37 (d. 12-15-85), married Bud R. Reno, have 3 children: Stephen married Pamela Thompson; Sandra has two children, David and Amber; and Shari married Bill McGowen, have two children Shane and Shannon. Bonnie Garnett b. 6-23-41 married Nathan Eugene Crook , have three children: Allen, who married Angla Johnson, Eric married Connie Terry, one child, Holly; Bonita married Phillip Harber, one child, Melissa. Vencil Earl b. 5-8-45, married Brenda Gayle Eubank, two children, Bergen and Matthew. Roger Wayne 2-5-49 to 2-7-49. Esco and Eula had a rough time trying to make a living during the depression years. Esco worked on the WPA or anywhere he could find a job. It was hard times and it was difficult to keep his family fed. Somehow Esco and Eula did provide for their family. They had always prayed that they would live until all of their children were full grown. And sure enough that happened. Eula d. 10-16-77, she was buried on her 56th wedding anniversary at age 75, Esco d. 2-16-83, age 82, both are buried at Davisville Cemetery.

WILLIAM PYATT William Pyatt, born in In., 1790 was father of 4 sons and 3 daughters. William moved his family to Crawford Co. in 1850. The oldest, Benjamin Pyatt, b. Indiana, married Avis Eggers, b. 1814. His son, John Pyatt b. 1822 Indiana, married Sally Eggers 12-20-1841. William's daughter, Mary , born Indiana, married William Eggers 12-28-1841. Another son, Elijah, b. 1824, Indiana, married Avis (Eggers) Pyatt 5-11-1854. His son, James, was b. 1827 Indiana, married Rachel Miller 6-26-1846. His daughter Elizabeth, b. 1831, married Charles M Miller 9-1-1846. William's youngest daughter Sarah married David Callahan 5-4-1842.

William Pyatt b 1790 married 1812 to ? born 1794. William's son, John, born 1822 married Sally or Sarah Eggers 1841. Children: Benjamin born 1845, Phebe born 1850, Rhoda born 1851, Isac born 1854. William's son James born 1827 married Rachel Miller 1846 and had the following children: William C born 1847, J.M. born 1849, S.E. born 1852, James born 1855, Samuel P born 1859
