Minutes of ABATE District 9 General Meeting

April, 2001

Roll call - 32 members present

Meeting was called to order at 7:05pm

Treasurer’s report read by Bill Merritt. MMS&C to accept treasurer’s report as read.

Old Business: Reports were given recapping the Hot Springs, District 1 Bike Show, and the Show of Wheels put on by Dwight’s Bikers Dream, in New Boston, Tx. Also, Joe Bunner told us about the Swamp Riders rally. John Ramares also gave an update on how the "barn-raising" at his house is going, and thanked all who have been helping him and Susan in getting their "airplane hangar" in place.

New Business: Went over plans for our Ice Breaker coming up on Saturday, April 21st. Jim Danley and Jim Barner volunteered to cook up the vittles, and Tilman Hunter offered to supply the grill. Additionally, John Ramares will contribute charcoal. The work day originally scheduled to take place the morning of the Ice Breaker has been re-scheduled for the following day instead, or on Sunday, April 22nd. Questions arose about our participation, helping with security, during the Prescott Drags, on May 5th. Jay Brown will find out and provide details at board meeting which will be held prior to next month’s Drags. Discussed upcoming District 9 Bike Show, scheduled for Saturday, May 19th, and also decided to form committee to look into band for our End-of-Summer Rally, in September, as well as other events. Committee will be made up of members Ricky Dennis, James Whitefield, Jim Barner, Jay Brown, and Bubba Whittemoore. And, finally, made members aware of other upcoming rides and events for April: D9 Dinner Ride - Friday, April 13th; 13 Rebels/ABATE 4 & 8 Bike Show/Swap Meet/Tattoo Contest, in Eureka Springs, April 13-14; Swap Meet - Dallas, April 22nd.
