P-38
This legendary Aircraft was a true "work-horse" in its hey-day,
and one of the reasons the Allied Forces eventually dominated in the sky's over Germany & the south Pacific theater of operations!
The applet above is the fxText.class . Nifty, isn't it??

A-6e Intruder/F-14a Tomcat
In-Flight refueling
over the Indian Ocean-1979
The aircraft shown above are a doing what is "routinely" accomplished in the sky's during carrier-based fight operations.
The "Tomcat" is from Fighter Squadron 84..."The Jolly Rogers". The "Intruder" is from Attack Squadron 35,
both based aboard the USS Nimitz CVN-68, while embarked at GONZO STATION,
in support of Operation "Blue-Light". This was the attempted rescue of the American Hostages held against their will in Tehran, Iran-1979.
I am proud to have been attatched to Fighter Squadron 84 during my 5 year Navy career. The photo is from my personal collection,
and as you can see, was actually shot during the refueling operation by the Radar Intercept Officer (RIO).
The pilot of the "Tomcat", Lt. Jack Watson  (deceased) , died in a catastrophic crash off the catapults of the
USS Nimitz a few months after this photo was shot.
He was not only my Division Officer, but a friend as well!
This photo is a TRIBUTE to his efforts....and his courage!
WARNING:"Hands Off" this one SURFERS!!
As you can see....this is not an applet, but a very fitting addition to this page!

Grumman F-14a "Tomcat"
Low-Level Pass
This aircraft is one of the most "deadly" Fighters in the US arsenal!
It is strictly a US Navy weapon, that carries various air to air missles.
It also carries the Phoenix Missle (AIM 54) ,unique to this aicraft. It can strike its air to air target at over 100 miles away.
The "Tomcat" can simultaineously track multiple targets with its powerful AWG 9 Radar System.
The "Tomcat" is also used as one of the US Navy's carrier - based photo - recon aircraft.
The applet above is the Lake.class . The Lake.class applet was created by David Griffiths
