Japan Travel Updates
The Japan National Tourist Organization web site. Travel tips, sightseeing,
transport, accommodation, regional guide, shopping guide, events, festivals,
facts and figures. There is also a different, British version of the site under
the name See Japan.
Daiwa Anglo-Japanese
Foundation
Charitable organization with the aim to promote understanding between the UK and
Japan in cultural, professional, academic and artistic fields. Details of their
events, exhibitions and scholarships.
Bridge To Japan
Set up by the Daiwa Foundation (see above), this is a very comprehensive links
site in multiple categories including computing, travel, literature, politics,
language, leisure, companies, arts, culture. A useful starting point for finding
Japan-related information in English, it is generally reliable and up to date.
The Japan Society
Details of the activities of the longest-established Anglo-Japanese society.
Based in London, it also has a role in coordinating the regional Anglo-Japanese
societies and the web site includes a list of them with contact details.
Japan Festival Education Trust
Educational charity which aims to support teachers in the UK. Online newsletter,
details of events, courses, workshops and exhibitions.
Japan Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Press releases, foreign policy, economic affairs, regional and cultural
sections, links to government-related sites, guide for visitors to Japan.

Japan Information Network
Set up by the Japan Ministry of Foreign Affairs (see above), this is an
informative and entertaining site with sections including Japan Atlas, Virtual
Museum of Traditional Japanese Arts, Kids Web Japan, Regions & Cities,
Trends In Japan, Statistics, Japan Web Navigator, Puzzle Japan and an online
version of the Nipponia quarterly magazine.
JETRO
Thinking of doing business with Japan? The Japan External Trade Organization web
site has information on exporting to and investing in Japan. There is also a JETRO
London site.
Japan 2001
This official site explains the series of
events that took place throughout the United Kingdom between May 2001 and March
2002, aiming to expand the links between the UK and Japan and to introduce
Japanese culture to a wider UK audience. Although the event is long over, the
web site is continuing for the
time being and the hope is that the spirit of the festival will live on. There is also a Japanese
site available.
JET Programme
The Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme, set up in 1987 by the Council of
Local Authorities for International Relations, is a scheme whereby young
overseas (non-Japanese) graduates can participate in international exchange and
language education in Japan. This site has information for prospective
applicants and ex-JETs.
JET AA UK
The web site of the UK JET Alumni Association has news, advice, careers
information and other services for British people who have participated in the
JET scheme.
Sussex Japan Society
Information about this regional Anglo-Japanese society, which was founded in
1996, together with an About Japan section with links to web sites on culture,
history, food, travel etc.
Japan Arena
Japan Arena will be a national
centre in London for the practice, study and enjoyment of all elements of
Japanese culture with specialized and dedicated areas: practice halls,
restaurants, galleries, reference facilities, meeting rooms and 'electronic
playgrounds' will offer a unique set of facilities appealing to many different
people and age-groups from the local community and from further afield. It will
be the setting for a wide range of hands-on educational and training programmes.
Japan Arena will link with other Japanese culture centres in France, Germany,
Poland, Italy, Canada and the USA as well as directly with Japan: business,
creative industries and cultural institutions, sports bodies and a wide range of
other organizations and individuals.
