Does the stainless steel body make the car overly heavy?

No. The stainless steel panels only weigh 15% more than fiberglass. The total weight of the car is less than 2800 lbs., even with a full tank of gas. To put this into perspective, a modern day Mustang, which is a fairly small car, weighs over 3200 lbs.
