Powerslide is the brainchild of ex-Riverdogs drummer Marc Danzeisen. After spending years behind the drum kit, playing for artists such as Gilby Clarke, Little Caesar, the aforementioned Riverdogs, and most recently Michelle Branford, Marc decided it was time to put it all on the line and front his own band.

The gamble paid off. The "Peel" CD is a fine lesson in power pop music.

There is nothing overly fancy about this CD. No grand messages. No epic musical detours. Just great rock songs, plain & simple !!!

It starts with the infectious "Gonna Lose It". A great uptempo song about being about a half a step away from the loony bin. This is truly the shining star of the CD. "Treehouse" is a cool song about the "castle from the real world" that you have to run to every now & then. That place you escape to and you are the king. "Once In A Blue Moon" takes the tempo down a notch. It's an introspective song about personal happiness (or, lack thereof). This song is about as heavy (lyrically) as the CD gets. "68 Chevelle" compares his classic car to his relationship. (no need to say which one wins out) "Reunion Time" is another catchy tune with a great guitar hook. It's all about going to your high school reunion and being able to flaunt your success just a little (OK - maybe more than a little).

The whole CD is reminiscent of Cheap Trick-ish classic pop, but still sounds current enough to be relevant in today's music scene. Marc has a very subtle underlying sarcastic, comedic edge to his writing that keeps a grin on your face throughout the whole CD.

Powerslide is exactly the kind of music that is lacking in today's music scene. Nothing too deep, nothing to make you want to go and hack your neighbors into a million pieces (lord knows we have enough reasons for that), just good fun music !!

WELL DONE !!!

Powerslide...

I had heard about this cd before I got it, read a bit about it and heard an MP3... so I sort of knew what to expect when it came in the mail. What I didn't expect was how really good it was! (I thought it would be good, but it surprised me at HOW good!).

Mark Danzeisen, drummer extrodinaire (knew I could fit that word in a review on of these times) put this cd together, writing or co-writing all the songs. Why he spent so much time behind a drum kit and not in front of it is beyond me! He has a great voice, writes great stuff and has a talent for putting it all together very nicely!! There isn't a track on here that I program my cd player to skip over... not even once!

"Gonna lose it" is the title track, and the first thing I heard by Marc. Its a great song! One of my favorites on the cd. Very catchy tune! Prima donna is another of my favorites on the cd... Oh, and I like Enough about you, and July... oh hell, I like the whole cd! Its pop-rock, its fun, and its worth getting and giving it a listen!
