I Am Here Now

Just when I thought I couldn't love a song more than I already do... along comes I Am Here Now and it blew my mind! This cd is a mix of songs from past releases, and I was psyched to hear it, but I wasn't ready for what I heard. I don't think Robs voice has ever sounded so good... some stuff was re-recorded while others were just tweaked, but it doesn't matter, they are all beautifully sung and produced. You can't ask for a better cd.

Among my favorites here are Strongest Man in the World... very beautiful song. Raining All Over is one that has been re-recorded. The song is beautiful live, and a studio version while different, doesn't lose any of the emotion... different is not a bad thing! (now I just have two versions to love). My favorite song on the cd though has got to be Home. I vouldn't begin to describe it... All I can say is THANK YOU ROB...

Just when you thought Rob Lamothe could not continue to produce one great record after another a long comes his first Canadian release "I Am Here Now". To describe the depth of this album would be difficult as listening to it defines the lush production and equally crafted performances of the musicians on the record. Oh, and you get Rob singing better than he ever has if such a thing can be actually done! Thus, this is an album that has to be heard to really understand the depth and emotion that oozes from it. For those of you have followed Rob's career there are no new song titles on this album however, many of the songs have been re-recorded producing new and different versions of old favorites. In addition, "Raining All Over" and "Pennsylvania" get studio versions for the first time. Finally, several other cuts get some tweaking that alters there sound from the versions released earlier. So in a sense it is a new album to introduce the people of Canada to Rob's music. This is an album that deserves to be heard and hopefully in his new adopted county Rob Lamothe will finally have the opportunity to get the recognition that not only he deserves but, this album of great music does too.

OK - so Rob Lamothe is re-recording some of his old songs for his first official Canadian release. No big deal, right?

WRONG !!

One of the great things about Rob is his ability to reinvent his songs and make them into a totally new creation while still staying in the context of the original song.
Some songs here have been re-recorded, while others have just been re-mixed a little to improve on the original.
Of the newly recorded songs, both "Raining All Over" and "Pennsylvania" are shining standouts. Coincidentally, these are both from the old Riverdogs days, and both have a totally different feel than the older versions that we're used to, but lose none of their original charm or emotion. "Strongest Man In The World" is another newly recorded gem. It holds true to it's original as a simple piano/voclal song but this time adding a little guitar to the mix for good measure and the soothing harmony vocals of Lisa Winn.
The re-mixes won't seem all that different than the originals, but have been touched up just enough to make a differance. A little extra percussion here, a harmony vocal there. These include "Blair Mountain", "The Light Of You", and "Ship Song" among others.
This CD also marks the reunion of Rob with ex-Riverdogs buddy Nick Brophy who helped mix the CD. There has even been rumblings that we may see new Riverdogs music from these two in the future, but that remains to be seen. For now, we have the fabulous "I Am Here Now" to hold us over.
Even a cd of re-recordings seems like a new cd from Rob.

AMAZING !
