More and more we are coming into daily contact with violence
We
are confronted with violence at almost every turn. Acts of
violence are becoming the norm of how to react to the people
about us. Road rage, school shootings, child abduction, spouse
beating, street gangs, bullying, all seem to be on the rise. T.V.
is becoming more violent just to keep up ratings. Rare is the day
when we are not personally involved with violence in one form or
another. Music, Television, movies, video games, art, all reflect
our neglect in heading off this cultural sickness of our present
age.
It takes personal involvement, desire, and commitment to make a
difference in our homes. In our schools. In our neighborhoods. In
our workplaces.

by Gavin De Becker All parents face the same challenges when it
comes to their children's safety: whom to trust, whom to
distrust, what to believe, what to doubt, what to fear, and what
not to fear. Now America's leading expert at predicting violent
behavior shatters the widely held myths about danger and safety
and helps parents find some certainty about life's highest-stakes
questions in his new book,
