Road Trip to Cleveland
July 14-16?, 2002

Our second successful roadtrip of the summer, out of the many planned. Eileen, Clarke and I headed up to Cleveland, Ohio to catch a Weezer show. The Strokes were set to play this part of the tour and not the D.C. leg, hence our trip. This all went to hell however, when that band's stupidass singer broke his leg and destroyed the whole reason for our trip. But it was still good....

This is the "Classic Dennys" in Breezewood Pennsylvania, "The Town of Motels", and it is.

These are some scary looking windmills that we saw on the drive up, although this is a very bad picture of them. Somewhere along the Pennsylvania Turnpike I do believe.

So we arrived in Oberlin, OH (where I go to school) and headed over to Logan's house where we stayed. We ate some frozen pizza, watched some Comedy Central, watched The Royal Tennenbaums until everybody fell alseep, then slept. The next morning we got up semi-early and headed over to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. Cause what else are you gonna do on a weekend in Cleveland. On the way, Eileen got a speeding ticket from a confused police officer. I knitted excessively in order to make us look more wholesome.

Once at the Hall of Fame, Eileen broke more laws by taking pictures of a few things for her boyfriend/manager (heh heh heh).

The Phish hotdog...

and other Phish fastfood products. Wacky. (Please note the "No Photography" sign on your right)

Here's Clarke with a pretty backdrop of Cleveland as we headed back to our car.

Then we headed back to Logan's for the Weezer show. But when we arrived... he was nowhere to be found. Although lots of people who were also coming along that he hadn't told us about were there. Logan came back from work eventually, and made comments about how we'd only be missing Dashboard Confessional and who liked them anyway. Then Eileen decided she hated Logan. Haha. We ate some food. Then we left for the show. I drove and was harassed by a van full of people and then decided I hated everybody. We arrived at the concert in time to hear the last two songs by Dashboard, then heard The Strokes had cancelled, then saw Weezer. Weezer played an excessive amount of Pinkerton songs, making it a very different show from the one I saw in December, and good.

Here are some pictures from the drive back from the concert:

Cleveland at night, I think that's Jacob's Field...

More nighttime Cleveland.

A giant blue gorilla on top of something. A giant blue patriotic gorilla that is.

Then we went to KMart. Uh huh. And sat in the parking lot while other people went inside.

Here's Clarke sitting in the car.

Here's Eileen sitting in the car.

Here's me sitting in the car.

Here's me hiding cause I was singing to Hedwig and Eileen tried to take my picture.

Here's me, the kmart sign and Clarke's foot.

Now we get more creative. Here's Eileen and I coming out of the sunroof. And I look stupid.

Here come the Kmart folk (Logan's housemate and Colleen) returning to their car.

Logan and me all sideways cause Clarke took the picture.

Then everybody fell asleep. The next morning, we all failed at waking up. That afternoon, we got some food and then went to the Oberlin College library so that Eileen could finally see the famed rainbow couches which she failed at seeing when she was up for Drag Ball.

Me on the rainbow couches.

Eileen laying down on the rainbow couches.

Clarke and I on the couches.

Me and Eileen. How cute.

Then we moved on to the womb chairs. I have the coolest library ever.

And then we began the journey home.

Clarke sniffing his foot while driving 80mph because I told him he stunk.

And then we got home and went to Ben and Jerry's and Eileen got bitter and then we went to Jess' and on the way she took this picture:

The old town fountains at night/Alexandria town hall.

It was a good trip. A good trip indeed.
