Untitled
by Sarah

Chlorine's stifling sweetness
Inhaled as if coffee fumes
Reawakening the senses.
The gas permeates the skin
Burning to the core
As it has done before.
A time remembered,
Triggered--
I close my eyes.
The stinging residue remains a scar.
I feel the cement tickling my toes.
Through my soles.
I loved it, then--
Childhood rushes through me--
SPLASH--
I live in the wake of my past!
I stare beyond the crestless calm
Into myself--
With a giant leap--soul first
And fully disguised
I am quickly recognized.
