Tallinn, Estonia

Spectacular! The medieval old city of Tallinn, Estonia. We had no idea what to expect from Tallinn, and could not have had a better surprise! The whole city is an architectural work of art, from the 13th century through art nouveau. There are neat details in all the nooks and crannies, some of them shown here.
We arrived on Halloween Night, seeing the city for the first time at night. Oooohh... It was Spooooky!!! The tapestries shown here are from The Pepper Sack restaurant, where dinner included costumed waiters and a "swordfight" that broke out. Dinner at The Pepper Sack on Halloween had more than just atmosphere -- shown here is THE BEST meal I've had! Ever! The picture may not be great, but it's a record of the perfect tender steak with all the trimmings... oh my...
Tallinn is a great city just to explore, streets winding around to reveal more surprises. I wonder why I had never heard much of this place? The steeple in the back of this photo was the tallest building in the world in 1500. We had to say good bye to the city after just one day, but I hope my family and I can come out there again this summer.
We had hoped for some snow, yet not too much. It ended up snowing on the last night, in Helsinki, and quite a snow! The flakes were about 1 cm diameter! That day ushered in the snowy season, and we've had snow since. Yeah, so my jacket is really poofy. But it keeps me warm! Here I am at the end of a great week, with some Fazer ice cream and chocolate sauce. I hope you are well wherever you are, and wish we could be enjoying this ice cream together.
