Final Fantasy VII Walkthrough- Disk 3
Okay, here's the deal. Disk 3 only has one story-line-driven area. Think your getting gyped? Not quite. See, the third disk is loaded with side-quests you can complete. I never complete hardly any sidequests until the third disk. Well, except the Sunken Gelnika Plane anyway. If your anything like me, you'll end up spending more time on Disk 3 than either of the first two. So here's how the disk 3 walkthrough will work. The headings will give you an idea what the sidequest is, and the first bulleted point under the heading will give you a brief idea as to the benifits of the side-quest, as well as what it might entail. The next one will tell you how to get to the location you need to be, as well as any other areas you might need to go to. After that, i'll just explain how to complete it. Once I finish with all the side-quests, I'll get to the final dungeon. No guarentees on how soon I'll get the dungeon section added. If it takes too long, and/or I miraculasly get multiple emails(which i've never gotten because of this site before, by the way) requesting that section to be added, I'll add it sooner. Anyway, enough jabber. Let's get into it!

Ancient Forest
- This is a fun little side-quest. In my opinion anyway. It's basically an area with some basic puzzles (that spelling doesn't look right. oh well), fairly strong enemies (and thus, a fair ammount of EXP), and some kick @$$ treasure. A definate must in my book. You won't regret it.
- To get to the Ancient Forest, you will need to do/have one of the following: Have a Green, Black, or Gold Chocobo (walkthrough for getting these chocobo's will be added later, or you can find it in my FFVII FAQ Page), or have beaten the Ultima Weapon. If you have one of the required chocobo's, take them in your airship (yes, you can do that. I didn't figure that out until my second time through the game) to the area around Cosmo Canyon. See that tent-type thing on top of a hill to the North-East of Cosmo Canyon? That's it. Take your chocobo there, get off, and enter the forest. If you have beaten the Ultima Weapon, just walk up the new path that was made at the destruction of the Ultima Weapon.
- I'll try to make this as smooth as possible, with you doing a minimal ammout of step-retracting, but we'll see how it goes. First, get the three flies that are scattered over the map. One is in the archway you walk under, and two others are near the sacs above you (I believe. If i'm wrong, Email me the correct locations. I'll double-check next time I play FFVII though). Pick them up and put them by the sacs at the top of your screen, but do NOT put them IN the sacs. If you release them too close to the sacs, you'll put them in automatically, so be careful. Once all three of the flies are near the sacs, put the three of them in, and make your way to the other side of the area.
Well, this is as far as I'm going to go in the walkthrough of the ancient forest. It's too intricate to describe accurately. You'll be better off on your own. If you really want a walkthrough for this, go to Gamefaq's and find a walkthrough on there. Anyway, onward!
Emrald Weapon
- You will probably want to take this guy out, seeing as how there is a mega-super-duper-cool reward for killing him. You get a master materia of each kind: Master Magic, Master Summon, and Master Command. Very cool. Now, there is a cheap way and a hard way to beat him. The hard way is to treat him as you would a normal boss, though if you try this way, I have one word of warning. His attack, Air-Tam Storm takes away 1111 damage for every piece of materia a particular character has on (it hits all three characters, but the damage ammounts are different). So, choose your materia wisely, and have 8 on each character at the most. If you only have two on a character, and they are at full health at the time, the attack will put them at 7777 health. And we all know what that means.
- Now, the cheap way. You will need a few materias. They are: Knights of the Round (summon materia, at least at level 2), W-Summon Materia(battle square, golden saucer), 2x Mime Materia (a cave only reachable by a black chocobo. and since you need two, you must master it once. though it can be done with one, it's not as easy), enough HP Plus materia to get one person to at least 7777 hp, and Pheniox+Final Attack materia (that is optional. you most likely won't need it).
Now, get into a battle (equip someone with the 'command' materia before hand) near Junon. Manipulate one of the monsters that you are fighting, and make it attack the person with more than 7777 hp, until the last two numbers of their HP is 77. Such as 577, 1477, 3977, etc. It cannot be more than 7777. Now, end the battle before that person is attacked again, so at the end of battle they still have the ##77 Hp. Now, use Potions and Hi-potions until you raise that person's health to 7777. Next go to your submarine without getting in a battle, or you will have to get the 7777 thing all over again.
As for the materia setup, have it like this: Give person 1(the character with the highest magic stat) the following: Knights of the Round, W-Summon. Give person 2(the one with the most HP) the following: Mime, Phenoix+Final Attack (Optional). Give person 3(whoever is left) the following: Mime. Now, when you enter battle, the person with 7777 Hp will attack Emerald Weapon 64 times for 7777 HP each time. Believe it or not, that only takes it to around half health. Once you can control your characters, have person 1 use W-summon, summoning KotR both times. Have the next two people use mime, and they will do the same thing person 1 did. If he is not dead by now, skip person 1's turn (note I said skip, not defend. If you defend, the mime will make the other characters defend as well, and we don't want that. Press triangle (i believe) to skip their turn), and have them mime again. And there you go, one dead Emrald Weapon.
Take the item you get for beating it to the guy in Kalm(upstairs in one of the houses), and he will give you a Master Magic, Master Command, and Master Summon Materia. Yay.
