Final Note:
What do we want?

Bismillahir Rahmaanir Rahim

Dear Muslims:

In this issue we must focus our attention on what is happening to us and all around us. There is attacks on our leaders from every corner. And it the Muslim laymen who suffer, as well as their families. We are living in Darl-harb, and in times of slight ignorance. All this has not doubt come as a sign for us that we are not following Islam all around the world.

This has always been the sunnah of Allah to wake up the Muslim ummah. A blessed ummah which the reward of any civilization will be the highest among those who follow Allah's commands and the ways of the Rasoolullah (SAW). We are blessed because Allah has chosen and has completed his highest favor upon this group of mankind.

In America, we see that the government has actually become affected by the greatest sickness of human disease. This disease is a sickness which has its roots in the time of the great Prophets such as Musa (AS) and Isa (AS). This disease is hypocrisy of those who say we believe, yet in their hearts they believe not. And Allah spoke of this disease and its carrier in many verses when speaking about the Jews.

We find that again, the Jews have landed to spread corruption. When they come into a land, you will find that corruption at first begins slowly, then escalates until they are handed over power with others out in front. This is the ways of the Jews, and it has not changed since Rome at the time of their plot kill Isa (AS).

The Jews have always killed Prophets, and religious teachers and leaders. They have always been the puppeteers of governments, as most of us are all too familiar with the story of how they went to the ruler of Rome to demand the execution of Isa (AS). And now, with their successful plot to silence another religious leader, Sheikh Omar Abdur-Rahman, they have embarked on a campaign to silence one of America's biggest threats in the communities they have made their home. This threat is not actually a person, but a way of life which was taught to us by the greatest Prophet of all time, Muhammad Ibn Abdullah (SAW). The threat is Al-Islam, and the person who is capable of waking and uniting the people in America who the Jews fear the most, is Imam Jamil Al-Amin.

Imam Jamil Al-Amin is a grassroots person who has all the qualities the Jews are most vehement in destroying. So as Bill Clinton, America's president plays into Israeli's hands and is forced to bow to the Jewish demands, the head of the FBI, a Jew and the Secretary of State, another Jew, have aided in the attempted conspiracy of Imam Jamil Al-Amin. This is indeed a sad moment for those who are coming out of ignorance.

MUSHRAAF SHOWS BACKSIDE;
To United Nations

When the overthrow of Pakistan's government came recently, people were hopeful
that finally things would change in a country that has known no peace since its'
inception on May 17, 1947, strangely enough, approximately one year before the
birth of the tyrannical state of Israel.

The government of Pakistan has known nothing but coup after coup and empty
promise after empty promise, with no help given and starvation going out of control
with no end in sight.

Enter the picture with the takeover of General Musharraf. His bloodless coup
confounded the kuffar and put hope in those people of Pakistan who were outside
of the country and were looking for a brighter future.

But all was not well. The hope that the Shari'a would be implemented and that it
would be the sole source of law in Pakistan for the first time since the realisation of
Pakistan as a state was dashed to the side yet again.

This came in light of the announcement that the source of law would be nothing but
the military government that had taken over. Yet again Pakistan would be under the
heel of timocracy and the rifle butt of the soldiers would be digging into the sides of
the people.

With the expulsion of Nawaz Sharif, the ruler of the country changed, but the
uniforms were exactly the same. Nothing had become different except the throne of
the new tyrant was a simple wooden chair rather than solid gold or one decorated
with rubies.

General Musharraf, known for his military strictness and austere lifestyle, is still
none the less unrepentant on deciding to rule not only by other than the Shari'a, but
to punish those who question his actions and are supporters of the Shari'a.

He was recently quoted on alJazira, an Arabic television station two weeks ago as
saying that the people who are staying in Pakistan with expired documents or they
don't have proper documentation should be expelled to their home countries.

This means that those who are fleeing from regimes who are hunting the Mujaahidin
are sent with open arms with their rulers who want them dead. These rulers are
then now able to appreciate the service of Musharraf, who will and has delivered
the Mujaahidin to the tyrants like a birthday cake to a child.

When asked how he could do such a dastardly act by the Arab reparter when the
Mujaahidin, particularly those from the Arab world, had come to help with the
jihaad against the Russians and other assorted tyrannies, Musharraf merely
answered that now the jihaad is over and that it is time for the Arabs and other
foreigners to go back to their own countries.

But the horror continues. The terror continues. Not only does he want the
Mujaahidin out of Pakistan, but he wants the Mujaahidin in Afghanistan to be
liquidated.

This intention was made clear when he made a televised statement on the same
alJazira program two weeks ago in which he said that he was currently pressuring
the Taliban to hand over Shaikh Usaamah ibn Laadin, the Saudi born Yemeni
mujaahid, whose campaign to rid the Islamic world of Western influence has
brought the memory of the now jailed Ramzi Yusuf (may Allah hasten his release)
back to the minds of the kuffar, who wiggle and shack in their boots out of fear of
him.

Perhaps the most horrendous new should be saved for the last part of this segment.
Mr. Musharraf has gone to the UN and has stated that he is ready to pull the
troops out of the disputed territories of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that the only thing standing in the way of this was the hesitancy of the
Indian military in accepting his friendly and syncophantic overtures (and may Allah
keep them far from realising any peace process).

Musharraf also made it understood that he does not pray, and was quite adament
about that point. In the end, we are left with just one more brick that has been
added to the house of kufr and the unfortunate thing is that the people have been
deprived of their right to rule by the Shari'a.

The only hope now, after the sad reality and betrayel done by the military in
Pakistan, is to return again to the war table, and devise another plan yet again to
combat and overthrow the government

Only then can the hearts and minds of the people of Pakistan be protected and can
the Shari'a be saved from any further tampering. And may Allah give the
Mujaahidin the strength to resist the evil of the tyrants and to withstand their
tyranny.

THE WASTERS;
Brothers of Shaitan

THOSE OF THE UMMAH WHO ARE IN THE PROCESS OF WASTE

Every day, unknown amounts of food are thrown away without most people
batting an eyelash. What's more, natural resources are wasted without the slightest
regard for the ramifications.

This article also comes in lieu of the recent petroleum shortages (may Allah
increase them and cripple the oppressors) that have occured in Britain and Europe
due to the rise in petroleum prices. These people that are involved, the consumers
as well as those who supply them, are contributing to waste.

They only became concerned about themselves and the environment when they
realised that there would be no more oil and gasoline for their cars. Then they
became concerned. This is usually the case with wasteful people. They worry for
nothing until it directly effects them.

This is why Allah gave us something to think about when he said,

'Truly, the wasters are the brothers of the Shaitans, and the Shaitan was to his Lord
in a state of kufr as being ungrateful,' Surat ulIsraa, ayah 27.

How is it that Shaitan was a waster? How is this possible? He had no natural
resources. He owned not one single factory, nor did he have one single warehouse
to store things in.

But he did have one resource. And that was his religion and the time that he took
and is still taking to disobey Allah. And this brings us to the three types of waste
that we as humans, when whispered to by Iblis, engage in:

1) The waster of wealth. This is the one that wastes his sustenance, the lives of his
children not to mention his own monetary gain.

This type of waste is very popular and is manifested in front of us in so many ways.
One example is the person that spends their wealth and then they become arrogant
about it.

This type of waste is usually what leads people to be arrogant towards the truth,
due to the fact that the Shaitan has given them the security that they will always
have wealth and that it will never leave them.

Allah diagnoses this disease,

"He is violent and cruel after that, then he himself is of doubtful birth. It is because
he has wealth and sons.

"Whenever the signs are recited to him, he says, 'Old tales and Fables,'" Surat
ulQalam, ayaat 13-15.

Thus due to his being puffed up with pride and feeling secure and comfortable, the
truth seems dull and without form. Therefore, who needs piety when they have all
of what they need. They can not think of any benefit that it can give them.

But he may also be wasting the wealth that was given to him in the form of children.
Some people, due to their failure in life or their dissatisfaction over the things that
they did, try to live out their lives through their children.

This is especially the case with those who are part of the film and screen industry in
Hollywood. At the age of five, and sometimes lower, they have their children acting
in commercials or in movies.

These children earn quite a bit of money, but in the end are unfulfilled, and
ultimately want nothing to do with the families that 'helped' them achieve stardom in
the first place.

One popular example would be Drew Barrymore, from the famous Barrymore
empire. Although extremely wealthy beyond her dreams, she was used as a clone
to live out the fantasies of her parents.

She was abused by the industry, involved with drugs and illicit sex at an early age
and just recently was able to pull herself out of that sleazy environment.

But to this day, she still wants nothing to do with her family. This comes due to the
fact that her life was wasted and abused by her parents, who 'knew what was
best.'

And this happens many times in life. It may be that the child is showing an interest
in Islamic scholarship and poetry, but instead, the parents enroll him into a school
of cinematography or acting school.

In an attempt to please their parents, these children go through these institutes and
colleges and complete, but feel empty inside and at some point harbour resentment
towards those who raised them.

This is something that as Muslim parents we should be aware of, for in the society
of avarice and easy sex, it is so easy to drive our children out of our arms and into
the den of the lions.

We should seek refuge from wasting our wealth, be it our children or otherwise,
due to the fact that ostentatious displays of wealth bring envy and rancour, as Allah
has said,

'And from the evil of the envier when he envies,' Surat ulFalaq, ayah 5.

The envier in the ayah can be both the Shaitan or a human being. For envy can
come from seeing someone parading their wealth. We should exercise caution, for
how many people have killed people more wealthy than them in robberies trying to
taste some of the good life that they see in these people when they go to expensive
restuarants.

Wasting of wealth can also lead to unnecessary greed and piling up. Soon an
attitude of competition and keeping up with everyone else.

The person not long after does not feel satisfied with what he accumulated, so the
striving to acquire more is athe driving force, and the stress that this could bring to
a family is unimaginable.

Allah warns us about striving with one another and becoming savages and
copycats, base and low creatures for the love of wealth,

'The competing for piling up wealth diverts your way, until you visit the graves, by
no means, you shall come to know,' Surat ut-Takaathur, ayaat 1-3.

>From this ayah, we can see, that from the plan of Shaitan, as long as we are
distracted from the real matters, we do not think about what it coming in the
Hereafter.

And by the time death reaches any one of us, then it is too late to try to mend all
the rips and tears that we made in our account of good deeds. Therefore wealth is
a distraction from our actual purpose here on Earth, which Allah spelled out,

'And I have not created jinn and men except to worship me,' Surat
udh-Dhaariyaat, ayah 56.

The warning to stay away from loving to compete with wealth should be
understood when Allah says,

'And truly he loves wealth violently and sternly,' Surat ul'Adiyaat, ayah 8.

Let it be known that these things are only a distraction, so we should try to
safeguard the wealth that we do have, be it children or currency from being wasted
and abused to evil purposes.

2) The waster of time. This is the person who loves unnecessary debates and such
and loves to flee from the truth as well as giving time to Allah.

This wasting of time has dire consequences and can lead to so many tragedies, that
for the sake of brevity we will have to include only those deemed by the writer as
the most pressing.

The time that we waste is a shame, due to the fact that the Day of Judgement is
very near. So near is it, that Allah has found it necessary to remind us,

'The hour is near and the moon has already been split in half,' Surat ulQamar, ayah
1.

So from this, we can see that time is a factor that Allah wants us to pay attention
to, which is why in so many places in the Qur'an, He has mentioned the nearness of
the hour.

But we would also like to let the reader know that there are three different types of
'hours' (the word used in Arabic is Saa'ah) in Arabic according to some scholars
and linguists of the Arabic language and lexicographers.

A. The small form of the hour, and this also has two forms within it

a. The 'hour' which will be established upon everyone's death.

b. The 'hour' which is in the grave, the time where you will either be punished until
the Day of Judgement, or be in bliss until then.

B. The great 'hour,' and this is the time that is established on the Day of Judgement
for the Hereafter.

Everyone must appear for all of these hours, there will be no tardy arrivals.

But those who are heedless, they pay no attention to the hour nor to time, infact, in
certain instances, they hasten it on, as Allah informs us,

'And is it not known that perhaps the hour is near? Those who don't believe seek
to hasten it on, and those who believe, they are afraid of it, and they know that it is
the truth.

'Is it not that those who are disputing in the matter of the hour are in a state of being
far astray,' Surat ush-Shuraa, ayaat 17-18.

And in how many other places has Allah stressed the issue of time to humanity as a
whole. Observe for yourself,

'By the time, Truly man is in a state of loss, except those who believe and do
righteous deeds, and they enjoin the truth and they enjoin patience,' Surat ul'Asr,
ayaat 1-3.

It says that everyone else regarding time is in loss except the believers, but why? It
is because the believers know the value of time, so what do they do? They do the
righteous acts that Allah (SWT) asks of them, and then they call to the truth.

They accept the consequences that would issue forth from that, so they remain
patient. This is why Imaam Muhammad ibn Idris ash-Shaafi'ii (RH) remarked that if
only this Surah was revealed, it would have been sufficient.

Allah referred to time again in another place,

'WHEN the Earth shakes with its' earthquake, and it throws off its' burdens,' Surat
uz-Zilzaal, ayah 1-2.

Thus Allah made the direct link between time and the Earth being relieved of its'
burdens. And indeed it is coming soon. This is why he said, 'when' rather than 'it is'
or 'the time will come.'

Allah (SWT) is making the direct relation that it is coming and put stress on this
point the way that he used the Arabic.

The final trap that forgetting the time and losing track of time could cause one to fall
into is forgetting the obligations that are linked to time.

For example, the will must be written and complete before the believer dies, and
should be done when he is well and in good health.

This is why the Messenger (SAW) made the link to time when he said,

'The will and testament of a man should be written and kept right in his sight,'
Related by Bukhaari.

Allah attached monumental importance to the will when He warned us,

'It has been made incumbent on you that WHENEVER death approaches any one
of you, that he leave behind the good of the wasiyyah (will and testament),' Surat
ulBaqara, ayaat 180-182.

This is why Allah (SWT) made the direct link between TIME and getting the will
WRITTEN. This should be remembered, for how many people have not written
their will, and there has been warfare over the inheritance of the people involved.

Whole empires were destroyed due to the lack of the will and the abscence of
some indication on who is to be the inheritor of what and where the legacy of the
deceased person lies.

The Messenger (SAW) made it clear when he said that the one who does not have
the will written does not believe in the Hereafter, please see Sahih ulJaami' for
details.

The seriousness of this should therefore be on our minds, and if we have neglected
it, it should be neglected no longer, for death looms on the horizon for every one of
us, whether we perceive it or not.

3) This is the waster of the religion. This is the person who forgets Allah, the
Qur'an and he is unmindful. He loves the worldly life, but he has no love of the
things that are from the religion.

This type of waste can be from the person forgetting about Allah and going far
away from Allah. The person may go so far from Allah, that he might stop praying,
and then dispair in Allah.

But the person, be they Muslim or not, should never dispair of the mercy of Allah.
For the mercy that Allah has for His creation is more than what a mother has for
her own child.

This is why the Prophet (SAW) told us about the loving nature of our Creator,

"Allah Ta'ala said, 'I am exactly how my slave thinks and believes I am, and I am
with him, when he remembers Me. And if he remembers Me in himself, I
remember him in Myself.

'And if he remembers Me in a group of people of high standing, I remember him in
a gathering better than them. And if he draws near to Me one handspan, I draw
near to him one full span.

'And if he draws near to me one full span, I draw near to him an arm's length. And
if he comes to me walking, I come to him with speed, running,'" collected from
Bukhaari.

Thus to remember Allah (SWT) is to draw near to Him, and to forget Allah (SWT)
is to go far away from Him.

These three forms of waste are the most dangerous and they can all, in certain
instances, lead to major kufr. In their smaller form, they should be sought refuge
from, for too much again can lead to the major kufr.

This is why Allah made it a warning to us, for it is so easy in our lives to slip and
become ungrateful. And when we become ungrateful, we become unmindful, and
when we become unmindful we become heedless.

And there is nothing that comes after being heedless except stubborn resistence to
the truth. You don't have to be a Jew or a Christian. Some Muslims are more
obstinate with the truth than their other counterparts.

This comes from our inability to recognise the issues at hand and to be productive
with the truth. Inability to apply the verses leads to the failure to diagnose the
problems of the Ummah and to deal with them practically.

And these three types of waste are all what is injuring us and hindering our
progress. The only way out of this trap is to face up to our responsibility and
charge forward.

And may Allah keep us firm on the truth and give us the wisdom and patience to
use our time wisely.

BIOGRPAPHY AND PROFILE;
Imaam Muhy Ud-Din Yahya An-Nawawi

The great 'aalim, known by his full name, alImaam, alHaafiz, Shaikh ulIslam, Muhyi
ud-Din Abu Zakariyyah Yahya ibn Sharaf ibn Mari ash-Shaafi'ii.

This great scholar has left behind many a collection, most of which we still continue
to benefit from today, in the way of his extreme insight and acuity.

His life was filled with greatness and the events that surround his life are enough to
take two lifetimes for the ordinary person.

The great imaam, Yahya, was born in the town of Nawaa, near the city of Dimashq
(Damascus) on Muharram in the year 631 AH (1234 AD). He was there for a
period of time, and then in year 641 AH (1243 AD), he had moved and was living
with his family in Rawaajiyah.

While there, he was enrolled in a school and was memorising the Qur'an, as well as
being tested in competency by his Shaikh, the great 'aalim alKamaal ibn Ahmad.
His love for knowledge was seen and his dominance in the Shaafi'ii madhhab was
clear.

Not long after, his father took him to hajj with him and as a young man, the young
student Yahya was to be a very apt and studious pupil, as well as being pious.

He would stay in Madinah for a month and a half, but would find himself sick most
of the journey (air conditioning and all the things that people take for granted on
hajj today weren't in existence).

He continued on, however, studying frequently and refusing to give up hope even
with his sickness. His dedication was known and he always stuck by his teachings.

He learned, in his tenure, from the way of Shaikh Ahmad alMasri. He also learned
his hadith and other literature from Shaikh 'Abdul 'Aziz ibn Muhammad alAnsaari,
Zayn ud-Din ibn 'Abd ud-Daa'im.

He was also under the tutelage of Shaikh 'Imaad ud-Din 'Abdul Karim alKhasrati,
Zain ud-Din ibn Khalaf ibn Yusuf, Taqi ud-Din ibn Abil Yasar, Jamaal ud-Din and
many others whose names fill the pages of the righteous scholars of Ahl us-Sunna
walJama'ah.

It was during this time that he would sit and learn the proper ways of understanding
fiqh and hadith by pouring over the pages of the Muwatta of Imaam Maalik, Sharh
us-Sunna by Imaam alBaghaawi and the Sunna of ad-Daaru Qutni.

These writings help to solidify his knowledge and to make him well versed in the
knowledge and principles of Shaafi'ii fiqh.

His writings include his Sharh of Sahih Muslim, Riyaad us-Saalihin, alAdhkaar,
alArshaad, alFataawa and many other works to his credit. His most famous work
is his forty hadith collection, originally an assignment given to him by one of his
teachers.

In his life, he saw the disastrous entrance of the Tatars into the Muslim world, and
the Shari'a to be picked over like a plate of food.

But unlike many scholars of today, who live off of Islam like a leech, he struggled
and spoke out against them. He gave as much support as he could to the believers
against them.

He was contemporary and helped the likes of Imaam Ibn Kathir, Shaikh ulIslam
Ibn Taymiyyah, al 'Allamah Ibn Rajab alHanbali, Shaikh ulHadith Ibn Hajar
al'Asqalaani (RHM) and many others who rose the banner of tawhid against the
practices and excesses of the barbarous Tatars.

Never once did the thought arise in their head of laying down their weapons. No,
not ever. This thought would not have survived for long with these men. They
continued on in the way of Islam, teaching, reforming, writing, reading, and if need
be the case, going to war and fighting for the principle.

His path of enjoining the right and forbidding the wrong even moved him to write a
letter of correction to the head of Syria during that time, explaining the dire
circumstances of the people and telling him of what is expected of him as a head of
state.

Ever faithful to the call of tawhid and willing to sacrifice his life to preserve it,
Imaam an-Nawawi had a life that was everything but dull, and his message lived on
with his students, one of whom was Shaikh Ibn 'Attaar.

His achievements and hard work are still enjoyed today in the books that we read
from him and the fataawa that he has left us. His preservation of the Islamic
knowledge is one of the strongest examples of the benefit of knowledge on
someone.

This is at odds today, with those who have picked up the wooden sword and just
yell at the podium and call to nothing but their own desires and constructing a cult
of worshippers rather than students.

The great 'aalim would return to his birthplace, and would take ill not long after.
Although consistently ill throughout his life after his return from hajj, he always
managed to have the energy to continue on. He never complained to anyone of any
pain or the like. He died in 696 AH (1297 AD). May Allah have mercy on him.

BIOGRPAPHY AND PROFILE;

Ibn Taymiyyah (rh)

One of the great scholars of Ahl us-Sunna preserver of the ways of Islam

Taqi ud-Din Abul `Abbas Ahmad ibn `Abdul Halim ibn `Abdus-Salaam ibn
`Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn alKhidr ibn `Ali ibn `Abdullah ibn Taymiyyah
an-Namiri ad-Dimashqi

This great personage was born in 661 Harran, then moved to Dimashq
(Damascus) in 667. He was the descendant of a family of great Hanbali scholars,
as Syria was a centre for Hanbali learning during that time.

His father, al 'Allamah 'Abdul Halim, was a keeper of one of the Islamic schools
and was deeply learned in the fiqh of the Hanbali scholars.

His knowledge was great and adh-Dhahabi said of `Abdul Halim ibn
Abdus-Salaam, 'He was a respectable imaam and his knowledge of
comprehensive things was great.

From an early age, young Ahmad would become a man of letters from his family.
He was taught the Qur'an and memorised it at an early age. After that he focused
on the higher subjects of Islamic jurisprudence, such as the differences among the
different schools of thought and even those differences in his own.

The time that he lived in was one of the worst times of Islamic history. The Tatars,
a marauding band of Central Asian peoples, had invaded the Islamic countries and
demolished both the khilaafa system and the Islamic state.

It was in this day and age, when the masjids and schools were burnt to the ground
that Shaikh Ahmad, later to be famous as Ibn Taymiyyah, grew up in.

He made it his personal business and saw to it that he would help assist in the
preservation of Islam and the reinstatement of the khilaafa system. So while in these
modern times, we have people holding conference after redundent conference
about the khilaafa, Ibn Taymiyyah was actually trying to work and do something
about it.

He was not alone, but the path was very dangerous he was treading. Thousands of
scholars in that time had sided with the Tatars for fame and fortune and some out
of fear, so those who opposed to onslaught and advance of the Tatars were
viewed as vigilantes.

The Twelver Shi'a, who had made a treaty with the Tatars, in which they betrayed
the rest of the Muslim world, gained power and prestige in this time. The bid'a of
the Twelver ideology had then become more fashionable, and many of them had
ceased large tracts of land after the Muslim owners had been murdered.

It was from the ashes of the demolished Islamic state that Ibn Taymiyyah rose out
of, along with his popular and dedicated students, Shaikh Ibn Rajab alHanbali,
Shaikh Muhammad 'Uthmaan adh-Dhahabi (Hanbali), Shaikh Ibn ulQayyim
(Hanbali) and Shaikh Ibn Kathir (Shaafi'ii).

These men of learning helped with their blood and their lives in the jihaad against
the Tatars with both their bodies and their pens and mouths.

Other outstanding contemporaries in Ibn Taymiyyah's time included Ibn Daqiq
al'Eid, Shaikh Muhy ud-Din Yahya an-Nawawi (Shaafi'ii), Shaikh Ibn Hajar
al'Asqalaani (Shaafi'ii) and Shaikh Ibn Qudaama (Hanbali).

These men mustered all of the strength that they could to assist the weakened
Muslims as well as to support the religion. This meant that in his striving to
implement Islam, Ibn Taymiyyah would find himself behind bars on more than one
occasion.

One of his first visits to the jail cells came with his insulting of the Shi'a religion. This
brought immediate consequences, resulting in his arrest and incarceration. He did
not mind, however, as this was the time that he needed to do much of the writing
that he would be remembered for.

The Shaikh did not give up hope, like many today, who feel sorry for themselves
while in prison. He spent most of his time deeply absorbed in salah and writing
books answering the claims of those who went outside of Ahl us-Sunna
walJama'ah in belief.

When not in prison, he divided his time between making jihaad on the battlefield
and teaching others. He did not care who the people were, as long as they were
interested in coming to learn. If they wanted to learn, then the Shaikh would be
more than glad to teach them.

The jihaad of the Shaikh was concentrated on the Tatars first and the other bid'ii
groups second. The main issue of his time was not that the Tatars had destroyed all
of Islam and the Islamic state.

The issue was that the Tatars took some parts of the Shari'a that suited them, and
then they left some other parts. In addition to this, they took some of their creedal
doctrines from Judaism as well as Christianity. This amalgamation resulted in a
body of work entitled, alYaasiq, which was viewed by them as a code book for
living.

Other Muslims fell into this deviation, and this was when Ibn Taymiyyah had to act,
in order to make sure that the Ummah did not put alYaasiq on the same level as the
Qur'an.

His fataawa were fast acting and filled with insight. The insight was that they were
able to diagnose the problems of the time and provide workable solutions to the
problems at hand.

His life was consumed in work and struggle for the sake of Allah, but at times, in
this day and age, his name is used either by the Takfiriyyah (please see the article
on what is a Takfiri) to build an empire of takfir, or by others who quote from only
small parts of his work, so his words are disjointed and displaced.

His works: Ibn Taymiyyah left behind more than 200 volumes of works, and every
one of them is a gem in the crown of the Muslim world. Some of his more famous
works include the monumental work Majmu'a Fataawa, some 37 volumes of his
commentary, tafsir and rulings in all matters from women veiling all the way to
killing the deviants and making da'awa.

He is also known for his work, alFurqaan (the Criterion) as well as al'Aqidah
Hamawiyyah, his longstanding answer to the Ash'ari people of Hamaa' in Syria that
was written between Zuhr and Asr prayer during his prison stay.

The Shaikh also covered the realm of comparative religion and left behind a seven
volume work refuting Christianity, Judaism and just about any other religion that
one could think of in life.

His work, Risaalat ul'Arshiyyah, was a defence of the principle of Allah having a
throne found in the Qur'an and the existence and description of the throne, the
operation of the heavens and the Earth and many other things, led Ibn Taymiyyah
to comment at the end of his work that he was sure without doubt that the Earth
was round.

This was not unknown, as Muhammad ibn Hazm, only 300 years earlier, had said
that whoever said that the Earth is flat is a kaafir based on the evidence of the
Qur'an.

His contribution in the realms of all of the Islamic sciences was so great, it is truly
difficult to calculate just how great his impact was upon the Ummah. One thing is
for sure, however, and that is that this great man was one of the shining lamps of
Islam, a preserver of the religion and a sword against deviation. He was truly
blessed by Allah to be able to take advantage of all of his talents and utilise them.

His teachers: One of his first teachers was his maternal grandmother Shaikha
Zainab bint 'Abdullah ibn 'Abdul Halim.

Ibn Hajar (RH) said: "I heard her narrations from the Hijaaz and other places and I
studied hadith and she gave ijaaza to me."

Near the end of his life, Ibn Taymiyyah continued on without failure nor breaking
under pressure. This time his prison stays become longer and more frequent. Ibn
Taymiyyah died in the year 728, Dhul Qa`ada 20 while in prison in Dimashq
(Damascus). May Allah have mercy on him and cause the Ummah to rise to action
based on the evidences that he left.
