Sail The World With Blue Flag

Practice Safe Sailing,
Wear Your Life Jacket.

Sailboat Lessons fall into three categories: Preliminary, Intermediate, and Advanced.

Preliminary lessons consist of a Ground School with one Instructor, one crew-rated assistant, and a class of 2 to 6 people who are new to the sailboat rating program.

Blue Flag Sailors also provides private instruction services for non-members who have little or no sailing experience, and possess their own sailing vessel, but have little time for formal instruction at a facility. Our streamlined two session Sailing Theory & Application Program (STAP) is all you need to get you safely started on your sailing adventure.

The Intermediate lessons consist of one Skipper/Instructor, and one crew-rated assistant who is in the process of attaining a skipper's rating with a class of 2 to 6 people who are training for their crew rating.

The Advanced lessons consist of two Skipper/Instructors, and one crew-rated assistant who is in the process of attaining a skipper's rating with a class of 2 to 6 people who are training for their skipper rating.

Sailors Skills Review List

  • The Sailors Skills Review List contains detailed information of all the skills that are required in order for you to obtain your ratings. Review the Sailors Skills Review List regularly and as often as possible.

  • Obtain a Crew and/or Skipper Proficiency Check List (PCL) from the boathouse. Make it a habit to carry your PCL with you on the scheduled lessons in order for the instructor to sign off each of the sailing categories you successfully complete.

  • NOTE: Every Crew and Skipper candidate must demonstrate the Man Overboard Procedure (MOP) before being eligible for Keelboat Crew or Skipper ratings.
