3. Attach Halyards to Sail Heads.
4. Attach Sheets to Sail Clews.
5. Prepare to Hoist

Sail Controls
1. Halyards - (Mainsail, Jib, Spinnaker):
Raises sails, Reduces Depth and draws Draft forward
2. Sheets - (Mainsail, Jib, Spinnaker):
Controls Sails, induces Leech Tension
3. Outhaul - (Mainsail):
Flattens the Foot of the Sail, reduces Depth in the bottom 1/3 of
the Sail, and moves Draft Aft.
4. Backstay:
Bends the Mast back, reduces Depth in top 2/3 of the Mainsail, and
moves Draft Aft.
5. Baby-stay:
Moves Mastbend lower and prevents inversion.
6. Running Backstay:
Controls the ratio of effect between the Genoa and the Mainsail.
7. Boomvang (Vang):
Reduces Boom lift, controls the Twist in the Sail, and induces lower
Mastbend.
8. Downhaul (Cunningham):
Tightens the Luff of the Sail and pulls the Draft forward in the
lower two thirds of the Sail thus, reducing Depth.
9. Traveler:
Reduces the lateral force generated by Leech Tension.
10. Boom Lift:
Maintains Twist in the Mainsail during light air.
11. Leech Line (Leech Pucker Chord):
Used to tighten the Leech of a Sail.
12. Reefing Lines:
Draws the Clew of the Sail to the Boom to reduce Sail area.
13. Reefing Ties:
Short pieces of Line, with small Grommets, attached at equal distant
points along the lower length of the Sail, used to tie down the
bottom and flatten the Foot shelf of the Reefed Sail.

Sails
Sail selection, Inspection, Rigging, Drying, Storage, and Repair.

Mainsail Controls
Halyard:
Used to raise and lower the Mainsail and move Draft forward.
Mainsheet:
Used to control the Mainsail. Also, controls Twist and sets
Angle-Of-Attack in conjunction with the Mainsail Traveler.
Traveler:
Used for finite Mainsail Trim and reducing lateral force generated
by Leech Tension.
Boomvang (Vang):
Controls Twist and lowers Mastbend as well as limits Boom gyration.
Outhaul:
Controls Depth in lower 1/3 of the Mainsail.
Baby-stay (If Available):
Induces lower Mastbend and prevents Mast inversion.
Backstay:
Induces Mastbend and helps dump air from the top of the Sail.
Running backstays (If Available):
Controls Forestay sag/mastbend ratio and reduces Mast pumping.

Headsail Controls
Jib Halyard: Moves Draft forward.
Backstay: Reduces Headstay sag and moves Draft forward.
Barber-hauler: Moves attack angle outboard.
Sheet-tension: Reduces fullness, twist, and attack angle.

Spinnaker Sail Controls
Halyards: Used to raise and lower Spinnaker.
Sheets: Controls the Spinnaker Clew.
Guys: Adjusts Spinnaker Sail Tack.
Blocks: Maintains the position of spinnaker guys and sheets.
Pole: Stabilizes Spinnaker Sail Tack.
