Episode 27, "Trouble in Honolulu"
Previously on Friends and Foes,
HONOLULU HILTON, HOTEL ROOM - MORNING
"Me and Lyndsay are going shopping." Candice says with a dismissive wave, as the boys look on in awe.
"We are in Hawaii on vacation and you want to go SHOPPING?" Alex says.
The girls seem to ignore their pleas as they shoulder mount their purses and head out the door, giggling.
"We’ll be back in a few hours." Lyndsay says, blowing a kiss in Taylor’s direction before pirouetting out the door.
"Great." Taylor frowns, slumping on to his bed. "Now what?"
"I guess we can go surfing for a couple hours." Alex suggests, though his thoughts are elsewhere. Taylor looks at him awkwardly, then taps him on the head.
"Earth to Alex. Your head is way up in the clouds somewhere. What do you really want to do?"
Alex doesn’t seem to be paying attention as he turns to Taylor with excited eyes, blazing with an eagerness to tell all.
"Ok, don’t tell Lyndsay or Candice, because this will cause some trouble if they find out."
"Ok..."
"I met this girl last night at the spa."
"Oh brother," Taylor smirks, rolling his eyes. "You’re not cheating on Candice now, are you, because you were going on and on about how much you were in love with her..."
"No no no...it’s just...this girl, Amanda... we have a lot of chemistry, you know? We clicked. And it was so fun to talk to her. I don’t know what I am feeling right now."
"How can you even say that?" Taylor snaps, "Candice is head over heels in love with you."
"Yeah?" Alex smiles.
"There is no doubt."
"How do you know?"
Taylor raises his eyebrows, implying that Alex should know already. "She tells Lyndsay, and Lyndsay tells me."
"I know, and I feel the same way about Candice, but for some reason, even though I just met her, Amanda seems so..."
"Just put it out of your head. You are going to ruin things with Candice and you will regret it down the line. What you and Candice have is special. We have a few more days here, so just relax and keep away from this Amanda."
Alex nods.

HONOLULU HILTON - LOBBY
Josie sits in a lounge chair in the lobby, dropping her bags in front of her, waiting for something significant to happen. She is wearing only a pair of sunglasses to disguise her identity, accompanied by a skirt and a bikini top, like any other tourist looking for some relaxation in the sun.
She peers over her sunglasses to see Taylor and Alex walk directly passed her, wearing board shorts and carrying surfboards at their sides. Josie smiles evilly, and reaches into her purse, exposing a revolver.
She looks around hastily, then shoves the revolver back into her purse and starts to follow Taylor and Alex.
PINE VALLEY AIRPORT - DAY
"Flight 127 to Los Angeles, California now boarding. Flight 127 at Terminal 9."
"That’s us." Kortni says.
"That’s YOU." Brandi replies, shaking her head in anxiety.
"What?"
"I can’t do it. I can’t face them."
"Who? Taylor and Alex?" Kortni questions.
"Yes. There’s no way I can face them now...after what I’ve done."
"Listen to me you little coward," Kortni snaps, "You face the facts. You weren’t successful in killing them physically, but by God you’ve killed their spirit! Do you have any idea how long it has taken them to get over this fiasco...this ordeal that you threw in their faces?"
"Yes, I know..."
"No, you don’t know!" Kortni attacks Brandi ferociously, anger throbbing within, "How can you say you understand, when the only way you could possibly understand is to put yourself in their shoes! It’s taken them over a year, Brandi! They’ve had to move from their home town...Hell, their home state, to get away from the past! A past that you have so viciously and cruelly taken away from them!"
Brandi cannot withhold her tears. They spring from her eyes in big droplets. "Please..."
"So stop whining and crying! You’re not the victim here. You ARE going to L.A. with me, and you are going to face your so-called fears!"
"So stop whining and crying! You’re not the victim here. You ARE going to L.A. with me, and you are going to face your so-called fears!"
"Last call for Flight 127 to Los Angeles..."
HAWAII, HOT TOPIC STORE - DAY
Lyndsay and Candice browse through some skirts, deep in endless conversation about this and that. Suddenly, the topic of Alex and Candice’s meeting comes up.
"Oh, we met in Psychology class." Candice explains, "He was really sweet and after a few classes and after we got to know each other, he asked me out and we have been going strong ever since."
"So how long have you been going out?"
"Well, since just before Valentine’s Day, so about a month and a half. How about you and Taylor?"
"Well, the first time we ever really went on a date was ON Valentine’s Day, and, how can I put this nicely...we did the deed."
Candice’s mouth drops to the floor. "Shut up."
"I’m serious."
"Oh my God, don’t you have any respect for yourself?" Candice says, concerned. "I am not going to have sex with Alex until we are sure about our feelings for each other. I, for one, know what I have with him is real, one-of-a-kind, and I am ready to take that one step further."
Lyndsay shrugs her shoulders, embarrassed, "Well, it was kind of at the spur of the moment. I mean, we didn’t plan to do it, it just happened."
"Did you, you know, stay protected?" Candice asks.
Lyndsay hesitates, then seems to murmur beneath her breath, "No."
Candice is shocked. "Now I am worried! Have you gotten tested? Maybe he has a disease or maybe you’re pregnant!"
Lyndsay looks concerned and nods, "You know, you’re right on both counts. I should have had more respect for myself then to just jump Taylor’s bones like that, even though I know he respects me. And when we get back home, I’m heading to the clinic to get tested out."
"Good for you." Candice smiles.
THE BEACH - MIDDAY
The bright rays of sun dance over the ripples of the beautiful, clean ocean, as a wave crashes onto shore. Hundreds of people are scattered onto the sand, some sunbathing, some swimming, and some tossing around volleyballs.
Children dig holes near the water, while others build sand castles. It is a beautiful, fun day on the beaches of Honolulu.
Alex and Taylor are lying on their surfboards, on their stomachs, swimming far out in order to catch a good wave.
"I’m glad you’re having fun." Taylor says. "It’s a good way to get this whole Josie thing out of your mind."
"Trust me," Alex says, "It’s working."
"Good." Taylor says cruelly. They swim out farther. "Hey, Alex, look at that girl water skiing."
Alex follows Taylor’s finger to a beautiful young woman gliding through the waters on water skis, leaving a trail of thrashed water behind her. She seems to be approaching the guys, but they are oblivious to it, turning their attention back to surfing.
Soon, the boat nears, and Taylor takes alarm. "Alex..."
These are the only words Taylor can utter before the girl rams right into him, knocking him right off of his surfboard and into the water. Blood starts to lightly spill from his stomach where the ski had nicked him. The wind has been knocked right out of him, and he starts to descend beneath the waters as his surfboard floats slowly floats away.
"Taylor?!!" Alex cries in horror, as the water skier does a 360 and heads back in his direction. Alex rolls off of his board and starts to swim towards Taylor as fast as possible, but the boat comes between him and his destination.
It stops, and the woman on the skis stumbles on to the boat.
"Hey, what the Hell are you doing?!!" Alex yells at the girl. She takes off her sunglasses. It’s Josie.
"Killing you."
Alex’s eyes go wide in horror. While Taylor is starting to sink beneath the surface of the water, Josie retrieves a revolver and points it directly at Alex, who has no way to escape.
"This is for what you put me through."
She aims the revolver, her finger slowly coming down on the trigger.
