THE CELTIC
CROSS
Steps:
Shuffle
deck well
(6 times
at least)
Lay out
the cards as illustrated below.
Here, lay
the cards out in the order illustrated up by number.
1 - The
Question
(This postion
can tell you the 'real' question you are asking).
2 - What
covers you.
(Obstacle)
3 - What
is below you or in the process in leaving.
(Your past
feeling about the question or similar matters)
4 - What
has past you.
(In the
past)
5 - What
is crowning you and could come into being.
(What will
happen if you continue on the same path)
6 - What
will happen immediately after the reading.
7 - Environment
surrounding you.
8 - How
family and friends will influence the outcome.
9 - Hopes/Fears
regarding the situation.
10 - Outcome.
This is
a very simple spread and one of the most well known spreads for the Tarot.
It is a very useful spread and is quite versatile.
Just follow
the meanings through and you should be able to get a lot of information
out of the reading.
Some books
show the numerical order differently as to how I have shown it above.
I have found the above spread to be effective, however if you find another
method works for you by all means use that instead. There is no definitive
way to read the cards.
In this
spread, the cards 10, 6 and 5 wil give particular clarity to the question
asked. I read these 3 cards as a block as I explained how to do in
the 3 card spread and find that this gives a fuller explanation of the
outcome.
Another
way of getting more information on this spread is to cut the deck in 2
after laying out the cards and pick out the first card from the bottom
deck and lay it next to the outcome. This card will give you more
information regarding the final card in the deck.
This is
a spread well worth practicing and one that I am sure you will come to
appreciate as you learn the Tarot.
This can
also be used as an accurate time spread and I also find it useful for answering
specific questions.
