rock and roll

is truly here to stay

Do you want to dance and hold my hand? No not you fella! Bobaloons was talking to that chic over there by the juke box, listening to Bobby Freeman wail. Did you know that back in 1958, Bobby was still in high school, when he recorded Do You Want To Dance and Betty Lou Got a New Pair Of Shoes?

Del Shannon was one of my favorite singers and Runaway one of my favorite songs. And while it was his biggest hit it wasn't the only great song he recorded. Remember Little Town Flirt, Hats Off To Larry, and Two Kinds Of Teardrops. I really like his version of Do You Want To Dance and Handy Man.

Nope, that's not some famous movie star. That's Miss Jo-Ann Campbell. Straight from my home town (Jacksonville, Florida) and she even went to the same high school I did. Now you know why old Bobaloons liked school so much. She had several hits including, Wait A minute, Kookie Little Paradise, I'm The Girl From Woolverton Mountain and Mother, Please.

Otis Redding gave us many great songs before his untimely death in 1967. A few are, Sittin' On The Dock Of The Bay, Come To Me and my two favorites, These Arms Of Mine and I've Been Loving You Too Long.
