You Asked For Them

Booker T. & The MG'S was the instrumental group that gave us Green Onions, Jelly Bread, Chinese Checkers, Mo' Onions, Soul Dressing.

Bo Diddley picked a wicked guitar and gave us several hits. Of course my favorite happened to be named after the artist himself. Bo Diddley. (Originally called 'Uncle John'). There were more. Diddley Daddy, I'm Sorry, Crackin' Up, Road Runner (beep-beep) You Can't Judge A book By Its Cover. In 1959, during a coffee break from recording, Bo and his maracas player Jerome Green, were kidding around while playing their guitars. Ron Maylow of Chess Records was in the control room and managed to tape them. The result, after much editing was Say Man, one of Bo's best tunes.

Don and Phil, the Everly Brothers harmonies are unbeatable even today. Their voices blended to give us these hits. Wake Up Little Susie, All I Have To Do Is Dream, Bye Bye Love, This Little Girl of Mine, Bird Dog, Problems, Poor Jenny, Cathy's Clown, So Sad, Let It Be Me, Devoted To You, Claudette, When Will I Be Loved, Til' I Kissed You (Don wrote this one in 1959 and used Buddy Holly's band, 'THE CRICKETS' to back them up when they recorded it.
