Great Balls Of Fire now playing

The Killer himself in his heyday. The Louisana rocker and his "pumpin piano" created quite a stir in 1957 with Whole Lotta Shakin Going On and Great Balls Of Fire. After almost losing his life in 1981 from stomach problems he is today still a great performer. Wish we could hear more from him. Remember flying blonde locks, (occasionally a flying piano stool too) pounding the ivories with elbows, feet, and anything else he wanted to use.

I remember so many great songs of his. Breathless, High School Confidential, Break Up ( one of my favorites), You Win Again, Put Me Down, Fools Like Me, It'll Be Me, and on and on. What can I say that hasn't been said before? I think Jerry Lee called it right. Goodness Gracious, Great Balls Of Fire! We love you Killer. Keep rocking.

This man influenced my life a great deal. No, I never knew him personally but I am a guitar player. Every young picker from the fifties and sixties knew the twangy guitar sound of Duane Eddy. I tried to learn everything he played and to duplicate the mysterious, echoing sound of his guitar. I managed to learn a few but never could quite get the reverb set just right on my amp. Remember: Lonely One, Because They're Young, Forty Miles Of Bad Road, Shazam, Rebel Rouser, Three Thirty Blues, Ramrod,Yep, Peter Gun, and countless others.

While I'm on the guitar thing I may as well mention another factor in my musical career. I'm not a singer so these guys were perfect. One of the best instrumental groups of all times. After Walk Don't Run in 1960, The Ventures recorded many albums and I bought them all. Yep I tried to learn most of these guys songs too. They recorded their unique version of just about every popular tune and TV show theme ther was. Even a comericial or two found its way into their guitars.( Remember the coffee pot perking and the Alka Seltzer no matter what shape your stomach's in?) Cool huh?

Perfidia, Lullaby Of The Leaves, Ram-Bunk-Shush, Secret Agent Man, are just a few of the literally, hundreds of songs they recorded.
