What Should They Be Learning?
To often we push our children to do school work they
may be capable of, but will give them school burn
out in their tender educational years.
There are so many wonderful things for children to learn, but they
also have many years to learn them. The public schools teach second
graders what used to be fourth grade work all because of lagging test
scores. To often new homeschool families push their children too.
While we should not let our
children lag behind because they do
not want to make an effort, we can safely lighten up on
their
academic load with out harm.
I put this scope and sequence together with the help of many
resources. It is not intended to be original or exhaustive.
Families will have to take into account their own needs and family priorities.
Chris and Ellyn Davis has a excellent catalog that is a must for
every homeschool family to read.
It was such a blessing for our family.
*Note* The Grades for a child to learn skills can vary from child to child.
That is why I choose to put the
grades in section such as K~2, 3~5 and 6~8.
According to my research, this is roughly when
development will occur for skills.
Of course all children are different, so do not worry if your over laps
in skills
that they should be beyond in "grade" age.
