(BIS.BISS.AM.CAN.CH.CHAKPORI'S UP DATE
x AM.CH.HYLAN ORLANE SNOW BIRD)
"Sam" was a result of a chance mating
between Ch. Chakpori's Up to Date and out top producing Ch. Hylan
Orlane Snow Bird when Yuppie was only 7 months old. This mating one time
gave us 7 puppies all champions but one who went to Finland and Championshiped.
Three of which are Best in Show winners in America, Canada, Brazil and
Australia. This first litter sired by Yuppie gave him his ROM as a top
producer with the American Lhasa Apso Club. "Sam", our pick of the litter,
shown promise as a winner from a very young age. He finished his championship
before the age of one year going Best of Breed from the classes many times.
He was The American Lhasa Apso Club Grand Futurity Winner in 1992.
"Sam" serious show career was put on
hold because his kennel
mate
BIS.BISS.AM.CH.HYLAN SHOTRU STORM BIRD was being campaigned as the Top
Winning Lhasa Apso 1992 and 1993. This allowed Sam to mature and gained
his Canadian Championship as a Group Winner. He was Best in Show at the
Canadian Show of Champions in 1994. He won his first Non-Sporting Group
under breeder judge Mrs. Keke Khan and was rated among the top five in
1994. "Sam" was awarded Best of Opposite Sex in 1995 at Westminster Kennel
Club to his other kennel mate BIS.BISS.AM.CH.HOSHIRA HYLAN SHOTRU BRIE.
During 1995 Sam won more than 11 Best in Specialty Shows under 10 different
breeder
judges, more than 100 Best of Breeds
and over 50 Group Wins.
He became number 1 Lhasa Apso
in America and was awarded All Breed Best in Show.
"Sam" was the third Hylan Sho Tru bred
Lhasa Apso to win Best of Breed at
Westminster Kennel Club.
He was awarded Best of Breed under judge
Mr. Norman Patton and Group IV under judge Mrs. Sari B. Tietjen, owner/handled
by Pat. "Sam" became one of only three Lhasas to place in the group in
last decade at the Garden.
"Sam" finished his show career as number
one Lhasa by going Best in Show at The American Lhasa Apso Club National
Specialty in 1996 over record entry of 180 Lhasas entered.
"Sam" eleven inches tall by sixteen
inches long, excelled in wonderfull flowing movement, fabulous head carriage,
wonderfull coat with a beautiful head and expression. His temperament and
love of the dog show world made him a very good ambassador for our breed.
"Sam" remains our favorite house pet running free and playing with
all the puppies.
