Christmas Day

Christmas Day was nice. I opened my presents in the morning. They were great. I
got leggings and a pair of pants, a couple of casual shirts, a scarf and some wool socks. Just what I need for tramping through the snow.

Work was okay too. I went out for lunch to a little restaurant in Marica. I had chicken and read my Cosmo. In my classes one of my students brought cake. It was yummy. I showed Merry Christmas Mr. Bean again and it went over really well. It's amazing what people will ask about traditions from that video. Everyone wants to know if the turkey is a normal size and if the carollers that come to Mr Bean's house are poor.

After work Hitomi and I went out with Shimi and her husband. We ate pasta and pizza and a bunch of other stuff and drank a bit ;-). Then I came home. A pretty unconventional
Christmas perhaps, but still enjoyable.

They do celebrate Christmas in Japan, but it is mostly a time to give children one present each, from Santa.Traditional Christmas foods here are Kentucky Fried Chicken and of course, Christmas cake. But, the Christmas cake is different than the Western Christmas cake. I'm used to fruit cake, but here it is a sponge cake with a lot of cream icing and cream inside. It's very good. It's interesting. There are a lot of Christmas Trees, sales in stores, but the meaning of Christmas, as I know it , isn't there.

It's still a fun time, I enjoyed it.

I hope that all my readers, where ever you are, had a great Christmas!
