December 4, 2000 - Monday
Today was a busy and productive day. I went to my lesson as usual. The funny thing
was that after I didn't have any money so I tried to go to the bank and get some
more. I went to one place but it was all blocked up so I guessed it had closed.
Then I went to another branch. Success! With money in hand I headed to the 100 yen
shop and bought more wrapping paper, just a little I promise, and some other stuff
I thought I needed. I also visited a drug store and then walked back towards home.
I stopped in at a restaurant and had mushroom curry for brunch. It was pretty good.
Then I walked home .
At home I finished wrapping Christmas presents, at least the ones that had to be sent
overseas. I also watched some of Van's video's again. I'm a bit weird that way.
I go through phases where I don't watch any and then all of a sudden I watch a lot.
I looked at the clock and it was nearly 4:30 I thought that I should try to take
the parcels to the post office tonight. I was sure that it closed at 5:00 pm. I
got ready and flew (not really) down the hill. It was very slippery and icy so I
was a bit scared, but I made it. I felt very sorry for the Post Office lady. My Japanese is
improving, but I don't always understand. Still, I managed to get my packages sent
off, and my wallet lightened considerably! On the way out I read the sign. The Post Office closes at 7:00 pm on weekdays. I rushed for nothing!
I walked home again, via the department store and bought some rice. I hope I'll actually
cook it some time. I got rice from Niigata...they didn't have any from Yamagata.
Yes, there is a difference!
I got home and watched Sabrina. While I was doing that and for most of the rest of
the evening I wrote Christmas Cards. Wow. My friends and family that I keep in
touch with by e-mail I didn't bother to write a lot, but other people I had to write
a few notes. After I wrote them I embossed a picture on the envelopes. This all took a
while, but looks very good.
I rounded out the evening by watching ER and soon I'll be off to bed. Later, eh?
