July 1, 2000 - Saturday -- Happy Canada Day!
Today was an interesting and busy day. I got up at my usual time and was about to
take a shower when the doorbell rang. It was a courier delivering a package to me.
One of my friends in Tsuruoka had sent me a beautiful album of pictures of me.
I actually look good in most of them which says a lot about his skill as a photographer.
I walked to work and I stopped into a convenience store to pick up something for breakfast.
Yes, I know, it's pretty silly, but I didn't have anything left in the house that
I wanted to eat.
I went in to work, opened up the joint and ate my breakfast. I also read my fortune.
It was quite interesting. I was the 10 of hearts...very fortunate and romantic,
crossed with the jack of clubs...not sure who he is. In my past was the 7 of hearts
which I think reunites lovers from the past and in the future was the ace of diamonds.
It's a very lucky card. Sounds good, right?
Anyway, all of my classes happened today, and everyone showed up. That meant I had
the equivalent of 7 classes. Wow. 3 of them were 2 hours long...but thankfully
only one was a one person class today. I gave all my students a Canadian Flag pin
for Canada Day, but sadly hardly anyone knew any famous Canadians. I can't believe it. Sigh.
For lunch, the manager and one of the other teachers and I ordered from an Italian
restaurant. It was nice because I didn't really want to go out. Anyway, we waited,
and waited, and waited for the food. At 4 pm I had to start my class. With no lunch.
Argh! Luckily I had some biscuits I could quickly eat before class. Anyway, the food
arrived at 4:15, but my next break wasn't until 8:10. So, I was a bit hungry!
After 9:00 I got out of the office as soon as possible and I walked home quickly so
that I could phone and say thanks for the photo album. Unfortunately my friend wasn't
there, and his Mum doesn't speak English. I told her who I was and she started laughing. We were both laughing because we couldn't talk to each other. We like each other
very much, but don't know how to communicate to each other. Sigh.
I watched a bit of telly later and then decided to go out to a convenience store and
buy something for supper. I went out, very uneventful trip, and then ate. Now,
I'm writing and watching "The Truth About Cats and Dogs". I love that movie. The
women are supportive of each other, even over the great guy. More movies should be like
that. Anyway, I want to watch the movie so I'm going to end this now. Night....
