March 12, 2000 - Sunday

Today's weather was great. However I spent a lot of the day inside, either cleaning or sleeping. I rousted myself around 11:30 and started to clean my house. I did the quick and not very thorough routine, but it looks okay.

Around 3 I started to worry and I called Pamella because I hadn't heard from her. She hadn't left yet. Argh. She said she would catch the next train, and would be in Tsuruoka around 7:30. Ouch. The party was supposed to start at 6:30. Pamella said that she would come to the izakaya, but if we didn't see her within 10 minutes of the train's arrival, to call her again.

So, I waited at home for a while, watched an episode of The Pretender and showered too. Then I headed out on my bike. I rode to GEOS, and parked. I walked slowly to Benkei's, but still arrived too early. I waited until 6:30 and went in. In my bad Japanese I tried to tell them that I was meeting between 6 and 8 people. They put me at a small table in the corner and I ordered my oolong tea and opened up my book. As I finished the first page, Tomoya arrived. Then in a few minutes, Kazuhiro joined us and we were moved to another table. The party was going well and we were eating and drinking away, when I noticed that it was past the time that Pamella said. So I borrowed a cellular phone and called her. She was on a train from Akita...she'd missed the train she was supposed to catch by 1 minute and wouldn't arrive until 9:37. Oy vey!

I told the others and they weren't angry at all. However, some of them did leave at 9:00. So, at 9:30 ish, I left Kazuhiro, Fumihiko and Tomoya and went to the station to meet Pamella. This time.... she was there! Yay. I took her back to the izakaya and the five of us drank and ate some more. (BTW, not all of us were drinking alcohol!)
After a couple of hours there, Pamella, Tomoya and I decided to go to karaoke and the others decided to go home. It was sad to see them go, but they had to work the next day, and we didn't.

Tomoya hadn't been drinking so he drove us to Hiyoshi, the karaoke box and we rented a room. We were really surprised because we were given the party room. There was room for 20 people or more, but there was only 3 of us. Amazing. We sang and sang and danced too. I sang old stuff, new stuff...you name it. Once again I sang a Bay City Rollers song (okay 2 if you're really counting) and discovered that "Living La Vida Loca" was now part of this Box's repertoire. Yay. I sang it...we all sang so much we could hardly talk afterwards! We finally left around 2:30 and Tomoya graciously gave us a ride to my apartment.

In my apartment, Pamella and I gabbed for a bit and then she went to sleep. I'm going to do that in a couple of minutes too.
ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz.
