November 23, 2000 - Thursday
Hello there! I had a pretty good day today. I slept in really late and when I did
get up I finished reading a book that I was re-reading. I decided to go out shopping.
I have people to buy Christmas Presents for and I just don't know what would be
good gifts for them. Sigh.
I went to Marui Imai first and had a good snoop around. I didn't see anything that
I thought might work so I left the store. As I did I saw a student from my school,
she works in the department store. She isn't my student, but she very nicely gave
me a sample of some lipsticks. I'm happy because I need to buy some again and this gives
me a good chance to try them before I buy.
After that I headed to the station. I took a side trip to Mosburgers and tried their
combo which features French Fries and onion rings. I wanted to see how their rings
relate to A & W's. Well, they don't really, but since they were the first I've had
in a year plus, they weren't too bad.
Then I decided to go to a large size shop I'd seen before down the shopping mall.
But, as is usual for me, I chickened out. Instead I went to a small shop next to
it that sells things from Asia, especially India and maybe Nepal. I was poking around
in there when the store lady brought me a cup of coffee. I was really surprised and very
touched. It was a good business move on her part though as I stayed long enough
to finish my coffee and buy a few things.
After that I caught a train to the mall and went shopping. I checked out the movies
and decided that I'd rather see Bedazzled
today, so I did. Sorry Charlie, maybe this weekend! I went to the washroom and when I was washing my hands, I met up with my student that works at the theater.
She told me the name of the film in Japanese, which is a good thing as it was very
different from the English one.
I enjoyed the movie, please check out the review at the above link.
After I continued shopping and found a few things that might do as Christmas presents.
I was debating going to see another movie, but decided that I'd rather go home.
I went down to the food floor and picked up a few groceries and then made my way
to the train station.
I caught the train, got off and walked home. At my apartment I discovered that I'd
had a call from Tsuruoka. Gabrielle was at karaoke with a couple of people and there
was a very interesting rendition of Sweet Caroline on my answering machine! She
called back later and let me hear a bit of my ex-student singing. It was really funny.
I wanted to be there.
And that's about it. I watched a bit of The Odyssey with Armand Assante and Greta
Scachi. It was okay, but I missed a lot of it.
I'll be off to bed soon as I post this. Have a good day!
