October 26, 2000 - Thursday
Well, I'm back! I have to apologize about the delay. I had planned to keep a daily
log so I could post it when I got back but technical difficulties prevented me from
doing it.
I was a little late when I left for work on the 11th and while I carefully packed
my laptop, I forgot to put the power cord in my back pack. I also neglected to bring
along my mouse, and with the wonky clicker on my laptop, I couldn't do anything the
whole time I was away! Basically I had brought along a 15 pound (or whatever?) paperweight!
Tomakomai was great! It's a nice city...the apartment that I stayed in for the first
few days had a great view of the ocean. The people at the school were wonderful.
They were incredibly supportive and kind to me. I enjoyed working there. The staff
and the students were terrific. My first weekend we went out on Saturday night and went
to karaoke for 3 hours. It was so much fun. I had the best time.
For the last few days I was lucky enough to stay in the Grand Hotel New Oji. It was
one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in. It was a very classy hotel about two
blocks away from the school in Tomakomai.
Sadly, somewhere along the way I caught a very nasty cold. I have the remnants of
it now...a hacking cough and stuffed up nose.
I came home last night at midnight and I'm afraid that I just didn't feel like writing
up my entry. Sorry.
On with today.....
I walked to the office in plenty of time and discovered that I was the first person
there. I opened up the school and changed and made sure that my lesson was ready.
Most of the lessons today were fine, except there was one on indirect speech that
I wasn't happy with.
I got a care package from my sister today. It had some new casual pants, some nylons,
and some new nighties. It's great.
My bag and a box arrived at the school today too so I took a cab home tonight with
Justin as I had too much to carry. After that, I watched the last of the 90210 episodes
that I had taped for myself.
And that's it. My schedule at work has changed a little bit, and there is a sign
that it might change more. I'll let you know how it goes!
Anyway, I'm off to bed now. Night all!
