October 22, 2001 - Monday
A day that I was expecting not to be too busy, turned out to be after all.
I was re-awakened by my husband coming back home just after 9 am today. He'd gone
to work, found out that they wouldn't be too busy and took the day off. What a nice
surprise!
After breakfast we went to city hall where we changed my Alien Registration information,
and then tried to make arrangements to change my name. It's a never ending circle
in Japan! They told me to contact my embassy to find out what they need, but I told them all I need is a marriage certificate. However, in Japan, they don't have marriage
certificates! ARGH. Hmm. I'll call the embassy soon and see what I need in lieu
of a certificate.
Then we went to the main post office where I mailed the thank you letters and opened
an account with lots of help and a bit of interference from Fumihiko. I just want
somewhere that I can put a bit of rainy day money, besides my regular account.
After that it was noon, and lunch time. We drove to Amarume and went to a nice little
French restaurant there. It was really good, and the food was the nicest that I've
had there.
After lunch we went back to Tsuruoka and went to a furniture store. After much humming
and hawing we settled on a huge wardrobe and a chest of drawers for me. I have a
lot of clothes and right now they're still in boxes!
When we finished there, Fumihiko dropped me off at my school and he went to the hospital
again. Yes, he's still a bit under the weather. He got some new medicine today,
so I hope it takes him over the edge into good health again. Me? I'm starting to
stuff up all the time. I'm a tad worried. I had a horrible cold last year and I can't
have a repeat of that.
Anyway, I worked for a couple of hours and got almost all of tomorrow's lessons ready.
That's good. I do have a bit of free time, I can work on Wednesday's then. Sigh.
Fumihiko came and got me around 6:00 pm and we drove home. We ate supper with his
Mum and then watched some TV. Well, to tell the honest truth, I didn't watch it, I
wrote more Thank You letters. However, they are pretty much done now. Hurray!
I'm trying to find out the etiquette of thanking people in Japan. Fumihiko isn't
a good person to ask, as he's a man and doesn't take a lot of interest in these things!!!!
We're having an early night tonight, both of us have quite long days tomorrow. And
that's all you get from me tonight.
Talk at you later! Bye.
