August 23, 2002 - Friday
Sunny day, in sort of a muggy way.
Not much happened today. I went to work, taught my classes and they went okay. I
came home. Ate supper. Watched a bad Stephen King movie.
At the apartment this morning I watched some TV from Canada. It was nice to see something
I could understand again. I watched The Third Watch and part of the new Star Trek.
It looks like it should be interesting. The Third Watch was a real tearjerker. One of the character's father was found in the ruins of the World Trade Center, and they
showed what happened with his body and the funeral. I was practically bawling at
the end.
Speaking of the World Trade Center, some of the background videos that they use at
karaoke over here have the WTC buildings in them. It gives me a funny feeling every
time I see them. They've stopped using US scenes now for new songs, but the old
ones that I like to sing often show the buildings.
In other news I heard today that the department store Daiei in our city is going to
close down at the end of the month. I'm really sorry to hear that. That means that
Jusco will have a monopoly on our little town, and that isn't a good thing. I'm
sorry for the people who won't have jobs too much longer.
Anyway, that's about all that I have for you tonight. I'll chat at you tomorrow,
I think.
