06 · 10 · 01 - "Mikefest" went better than
any of us could have ever hoped for. We took the stage
at 7:45pm and setup while waiting for Nik to show up
from work. The crowd began getting pretty antsy in the
midst of all our tuning, so we asked Orion to play some
acoustic tool covers while the crowd waited. Orion performed
covers of "H." and "Jimmy"... turning to performance center
into a huge tool sing along, quite a beautiful experience. Nik finally showed up and we immediately began playing for the impatient crowd of 200+ who exploded into a moshpit the second "Honest Insomnia" opened up. People usually don't mosh to our music... it's not all that uhhhhh.. moshy. It was a little odd for us, but we responded accordingly and made it heavy. Fucked shit up good :). We played all the heavier songs, (Norak, Honest Insomnia, Epiphyte, Rough, Elistan) and managed to squeeze a mellower "Utopia By The Pond" in. We played a short 30 minute set as it was a festival and 7 other bands performed their own very talented sets. God... How did we break 2 strings, 1 pick and a snare drum in 6 songs...

I'd like to take a moment to thank everyone who showed up... we've been a little stressed as a band lately and your energy in the crowd helped remind us how lucky we are to have the beautiful gift we have. I wouldn't know what to do without this band... it's my bread and water. Also, thanks to the other bands who performed (Stepping Stone, Myoga, The Halloween Fright Machine, Locutus, Crookid Soul, Disposable Pop). I(Kaylub) had a great time sticking around to watch you all. There's some amazing talent in this town.... Catch you all at the next show.

05 · 14 · 01 - The gig we played on Thursday was a total nightmare to plan, but once the music was on stage we had a bloody riot. Blessed Side Effect opened up the gig with some acoustic tunes. Vocal harmonies and acoustic melodies filled the venue as the mood was being set. Next up was Stalking Bambi, delivering an inspirational set of original bubblegum punk. The girls played even better than
the first show we shared together... A little more energy and a tightened rhythm section made these girls a sweet ass show. Princess Die stumbled up onto stage next, turning the crowd into a ravenous pit of dogs. E. Roger Ness, G.G. and the special guest appearance of Justin Gradeen(I probs fucked the spelling up) on drums hammered out some great punk covers. Keeping an incredibly great punk vibe on stage for their 20 minute presence, the kids were eating the Macabre nuance out of their hands. Horror even made a short guest appearance for 2 songs, adding a slight taste of death metal. Finally, we took the stage late into the night (10:15) and played a long set for the remaining audience.... And what an audience it was. Such an interesting mix of people showed up for the gig, people with all varities of musical taste seemed to wait for our delivery. We were all VERY pleased with the performance, the crowd loved alot of the songs and had a hard time classifying what they heard. Audience members poised on the edge of their seat, eager for the next blend of styles to emerge from our list of songs. The crowd responded very well, applauding in mid song at an impressive solo or driven beat. We felt tighter than ever, thanks for all of your support and encouragement.....

We're happier than ever

05 · 05 · 01 - A new gig has been booked at Brewbakers coffee shop to make up for the cancelled show 2 weeks ago. Sorry, we weren't organizing the show and the planners backed out at the last second. We've taken matters into our own hands this time and promise a kick ass show for all you kids. Come check out Stalking Bambi, we saw them live and they be dope! :). For all the exactinfo on the gig go to the Shows section

04 · 20 · 01 - FOUR TWENTY!!!! FOUR TWENTY!!!! FOUR TWENTY!!! Light 'em if you got 'em... Find someone if you don't. Recording sessions for a new studio version of "Honest Insomnia" and the previously unrecorded "Epiphyte" began at Musico studios on 04/20/2001. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, You can imagine the state of mind the whole studio was in :). The new tracks will be available on the site after completion of the in studio recording process (Aprox. 2 weeks). PEACE!

04 · 19 · 01 - The show that was supposed to have happened tonight was cancelled at the last minute by the organizers of the show. Many of the bands, (us included) as well as fans were upset for not only the cancellation but the extremely short notice of the change. We have promised to make it up to everyone by rebooking a new show with a new set of bands to perform for the evening. The show will take place sometime in May, stay posted to the "Shows" section to get up with the latest info.

04 · 16 · 01 - The show at the Scarab Dining Hall went exquisite. Ran into a pretty cool chic punk band called "Stalking Bambi". Had an interesting set and charismatic spirit as a whole.... You can find them at The Stalking Bambi Homepage. Our show was a short 35 minute set, but we delivered all the fast rocky tunes. Had a fun time playing Epiphyte, it packed a real good bunch this time around. For those of you who showed up, thanks for stopping in. Peace

04 · 08 · 01 - Another gig has been confirmed for Thursday, April 19th. We will be performing at Brewbakers coffee shop at 227 Bernard Ave. in Kelowna. Acts from "Cafe Insomnia", "Janica", "Blessed Side Effect" and Orion and Og may appear for a performance. Doors open at 7pm show begins at 7:30pm, entrance is $3. Be there or be square! :)

04 · 03 · 01 - Kaylub attends the funeral of his grandfather and performs a cover of "Street Spirit" as Robert Liske is enturred within the earth at 3:34pm Manitoban time. His vessel has become one with the earth, leaving behind the rest of his link with the mortal realm. Passing through the prairies aided me(Kaylub) to help deal with his death, I am sincerely happy for him, and have no worries. It was so good to progress and evolve emotionally, he's left us all assured that he's safe. Thank you Kristie, our meeting helped me in more ways than you can imagine. You look and think better than ever, best of luck to you...... Vancouver :).

03 · 31 · 01 - At 4:45pm Manitoban time, Kaylub's grandfather, Robert Julius Liske passed away. He had been battling a brain tumour for months and finally found release from his mortal coil. He now dances a spiritual dance in the realm of the mortals unknown. All is well, he is safe in the arms of immortality.

03 · 29 · 01 - 2 new show dates are being planned for the month of April. A gig with "Princess Die!", "Horror" & "Severed Serenity" is in the works. The bands are all confirmed and it feels good to be schedualing with a whole new set of bands. Stay posted to the site here to get an exact date on the show within the next week or two. As for now, a show on Sunday, April 15th (Oooo, rising Aries... Easter Weekend) has been schedualed at "The Scarab Dining Lounge". It's at 441 Lawrence street in Kelowna, show runs from 6pm-10pm and there should be more music playing there than just us. I believe admission is.... Free :). Have fun kiddies.

03 · 12 · 01 - We have updated the webpage! It's been almost 2 years now and we felt it was time for a bit of a change. While the same sidebar layout remains you will find many tastey designs throughout the page now. The Images Section is MUCH larger now full of live pics, Band pics and so much more. The Cafe has grown as well and our news section is being documented by the year new. 2 new sections have been added Shows where you can find where our next show will be (slowing down for the next few months) and Media. Within media you can now find full mp3's, Real audio clips and live .mpg clips of some of our performances. Thank you all so much for supporting us every step of the way. Here's our gift to you, a new sight to explore and lose yourself in.
Peace.

03 · 09 · 01 - As we've been promising new recordings forever we've taken it upon ourselves to produce something to tide you over. We're going to replace the older mp3's that we've had posted for so long with 1 different song off Nevermore, a new "raw" recording of Make It Home and the entire single of "Birth Of The Verjiform". You can head to the Media Section and listen to full mp3's of Blinded, Not Inside Of Me, Birth Of The Verjigorm and the new version of Make It Home. The new version is a scratch recording that we produced in our basement to give you a taste of what the newer liver stuff is sounding like. For anyone who hasn't been able to make it to a show yet this should help you out very well. While the quality of the recording is grunge the quality of the music is top notch. I(Kaylub) get shivers down my spine whenever I hear it, it reminds me of growing up with my tape deck in my room :). Dig in kiddies, enjoy.

03 · 06 · 01 - We realize now that it's been aproximately 6 months since we postponed production of the next album that we promised you Insomniacs. We've discussed this long and hard over the time we've been playing show after show and have come to a final conclusion. Our style has changed to something much more raw than what we recorded a year and a half ago(Nevermore). Nik entering the band immediately got rid of the electronic drums (THANK GOD) and as a whole the band just kept heading more and more rocky and raw. So, many of the songs you hear on Nevermore are performed completely different now. We have decided to take a mix of some of the older songs (done different now) and some of the newer material we've been writing within the circle into the studio when we begin. We've narrowed it done to a long EP (8 songs) that will have a much more live feel than any of our previous recordings. We'd like to announce that shows are going to slow down for the next couple of months (we'll still play one now and then) but we need to get into a recording frame of mind. Also, these kind of things do cost lots of money and well.... Back to some more day time jobs for us :). But don't you worry, we promise the sacrifices are beginning to be made to deliver this long awaited album. No release date or recording date has been set as funds are being raised but we've made the announcement. Next phase = new tunes for our long awaiting fans. In the meantime, we're going to have some goodies for you within the next few days.

02 · 21 · 01 - A tragedy happened this past week, a friend of many of us in Kelowna passed away after being hit by car while skateboarding. Mike Embelton's tragic passing left a hole in many of his close friends. His funeral brought on some financial problems for his family and there was just to many of us sitting around to do nothing about it. We held a benefit concert for him tonight (His funeral was during the day... Also, happened to be what would've been his 18th birthday) and raised money to help the fundraising already going on for the family. An incredibly dark somber atmosphere filled Brewbakers as Mike was on everyone's mind.... It could even be heard in the music. We pushed and pulled all of our internal powers to make sure the Awareness of Mike's end was evident... Time to say goodbye and cope with what we are left with. It was a good feeling raising some money for the family, and with radio stations advertising the shows and Television Cameras appearing at the show.... Well, I'm positive Mike heard. Everyone in the okanagan was told of his beautiful life and the tragic passing that came so swiftly.

See ya soon man

02 · 11 · 01 - This weekend we played an intimate show for very close friends of ours Aja and Janica (Turn those damn strobes off). It was a dual aquarius birthday and what better way to celebrate this beautiful experience than with loud ass music. We played our full set and continued to have an open jam with everyone willing to join in. The music turned to a much more mellow experience after we finished our set. Everything just seemed to get much more fragile and gentle, I think some serious digging was going on in that room. Kaylub, Orion and Chris shared a very spiritual moment and kept the entire room thinking. And was that... Yes, I do believe Pipeline, A la Coren :). While we felt we played horribly, everyone told us we did just fine, thank you for the support..... But we know you're just helpin us feel good ;).

02 · 10 · 01 - Coren brought home the biggest fucking bass stack I've seen in my life today. It's bigger than Haplo's girlfriend and it's even got more inputs too ;). Dear god, I can hear it already... From the grounds there came a rumbling, slow and calm at first... But within moments BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM a thunderous cry from the gods. Hope you make it to the shows to see the monstrousity.

02 · 04 · 01 - Caleb loves Mikhala :)

01 · 28 · 01 - We performed quite possibly our tightest show today. Wrapping up the last of 3 gigs in 2 days we played a headlining spot and rocked Brewbakers for an hour and a half. Opening for us, Ixquic, Halloween Fright Machine and Orion Kemp's acoustic talents played very very impressive sets. I had a lot of fun listening to the 3 performances before we even got on stage. I have no idea what it was that happened tonight, but we just gelled better than we've ever done before. Nik didn't miss a single beat and Coren's bass was an earthen platform of stability. I've never heard Haplo wail like he did and my guitar transitions were as smooth as water. Don't know what to say, if you missed this one, you missed a damn good one. I impressed myself, that's getting so hard to do. Peace to everyone who appeared there, it was packed, couldn't have had another person fit in there.

01 · 27 · 01 - We embarked on a 3 shows in 2 days journey today and can't wait to blow away the audiences. The first night, we played at the Peachland Community Hall(Always a..... experience). In any event, we were quite surprised with the turnout as it was a Peachland gig and were more than happy with the attendance of 60+. For peachland, that's gotta be a record or something. The Halloween Fright Machine, Ixquic and Smut Peddling Sam (Who I must comment made an impression on me) played well into the night and kept the audience plenty entertained. We packed up the second the gig was done and drove done to play a house party the same night. By the time we got there the whole house was already raging drunk and pointed to a corner for us to setup. Ahhhh... the perfect audience :). We setup and blew away the house with way to loud equipment for such a small room, everyone was lost in their own little world. We were very happy with the influence the music was having on everyone in the house. I swear I witnessed atleast 5 people have a spiritual moment infront of our playing area. Not to mention, it always feels so weird when people start calling out your song names "PLAY ANOTHER TRIP!" "NO MAN, WICKETTS!" and of course Wynn.... "PLAY SHHHUUGAR!"(Yes, I heard ;>). Parties are always so much better than gigs in my opinion, for some reason we always play more personal. Oh ya, hee hee... Almost forgot.... Paige! I saw yer titty, I saw yer titty!

01 · 20 · 01 - Kaylub finished off the last of his payments on a top of the line "Cort" guitar today. Gold heads, bridge and everything... with 3 channel selection and flip from dual humbucker to single coil it's a sonic wonder. I swear, Adam Jones must have recorded Undertow and then walked into the guitar shop and sold his guitar. This is it, Kaylub owns the Undertow guitar now... :) It sounds so exact, I can't believe it, the exact same squeelch from the intro of "Sober". Looks like it'll be plenty a nights locked in a room with the TooL collection :)...... 2 more months :).

01 · 06 · 01 - We played another show for Judge R. Bean this weekend. However, the whole spirit of performing a special acoustic show seemed to diminish when they called us back. The last thing we want is to get known as a coffee shop band. So, we set off to play the show so loud in such a small coffee shop that they'd never call us back. I for one, thought it was grande fun, however some of the older audience did not agree near as much. Within the first 10 mins of ragingly loud electric set we scared away many of the older audience, Haplo even pointed and laughed into the microphone. The younger crowd stuck around for the whole show and we were more than happy to play the show through to it's entirety. Needless to say, they didn't call us back. Mission, accomplished. Pics from this show and others are available at the Live Pics Section.

01 · 01 · 01 - Holy shit, Look at that date. Bloody well scarey.... In any event, happy new millenium everyone. I feel washed clean, can't wait to lead this next thousand years into another pit of festering human sin :).
