"Explain the theory of relativity in such a way that an average adult may
understand it."
Quiet, Please!
Star: Ernest Chappell
Sponsor: Sustaining (none)
Networks: ABC, Mutual
Aired: 1947-1949
Type of Show: Drama
NB: Created by Wyllis Cooper, who also created Lights Out!
Note the similarities in the titles: Unlike that show, this program aired
on Sunday afternoon, while it was still light, so there wasn't much since
in telling folks to turn their lights out, so the next best thing was to
tell everyone to be quiet! I guess it would have been silly to call
the program, "Lie Down, Shut Your Eyes Tightly, and Pretend It's Dark!"

Quiz Kids
Host: Joe Kelly or George V. Denny, Jr.
Panelists: Jack Rooney, Lonnie Lunde, Joel Kupperman, and Naomi
Cooks (there were also others)
Sponsors: Miles Laboratories (usually Alka-Seltzer), Sustained
(none)
Network: NBC (Red), NBC (Blue), CBS
Aired: 1940-1953
Type of Show: Game Show (sort of)
NB: It's really difficult to consider this a game program because
it had the same group of Chicago children every week. These were
highly gifted children, most of whom became tremendous assets to the intellectual
community as adults (including at lt one Nobel Physics Prize winner!)
