1991

Natalie Hunter, having been thrown down an abandoned well by her totally twisted sister Janet Green, was rescued by the ever so handsome Dimitri Marick, on who's estate the well was located. He took her back to his mansion, Wildwind, and nursed her through her horrible bouts with claustrophobia and nightmares.

Natalie was torn between her savior, Dimitri, and Trevor Dillon, an ex-mercenary, who had been so easily duped by Janet. Dimitri grew enamored of Natalie, fantasizing that she was the personification of his wife, Angelique, who had been hospitalized in a deep coma for the past 15 years.

1992

With Dimitri's tender guidance, Natalie vowed to put the past behind her. They became engaged to be married. But Dimitri's past would soon come to haunt them. Everyone thought that his wife, Angelique had died in Vienna after spending 15 years in a hopeless coma -- but she was alive.

On the night of Natalie and Dimitri's engagement party, Angelique's mother Helga pulled off the surprise of surprises. At the stroke of midnight, Angelique appeared. Stunned by this turn of events, Natalie raced out of Wildwind, and out of Dimitri's life.

On the work front, Dimitri was determined to seize control of Erica Kane's company, Enchantment. They appeared in a face-to-face meeting on TV's Market Street Week. Afterwards, the pair met privately and argued. The chemistry was instant and unmistakable. The fight turned to passion as Dimitri pulled his rival into a kiss. Erica responded. A new romance was born in Pine Valley.

Erica (finally divorced from Adam) refused to get wrapped up in an affair with Dimitri. However with a single kiss, Dimitri swept Erica away. They made wild, passionate love as Dimitri declared that his marriage to Angelique was over. However, when the time came, Dimitri couldn't bring himself to leave his recovering wife.

Edmund Grey, a Pulitzer prize-winning journalist, went on a search for the truth about his parentage. It sent him halfway across the world to Budapest where he tracked every move of Erica and Dimitri.

Just days earlier, they had re-discovered their love in the beautiful Hungarian city. Waiting for the opportune moment, Edmund kidnapped Erica, holding her hostage in a wine cellar below Vadzel, the Marick ancestral home.

Hoping to make Dimitri honor Hugo's missing will seemed simple enough, but Dimitri refused to give in to Edmund's demands.

Released by her captor, Erica returned to Dimitri, only to spy on him holding Angelique in his arms.

Stunned, Erica returned to Edmund and agreed to become his accomplice. Later, the Marick brothers teamed up to confront Helga, finally cornering her atop an ancient stone wall.

Before falling to her death, Helga admitted the truth that she burned the will. She confessed that Edmund is Dimitri's brother.

1993

After Erica came back from Hungary, she faked amnesia to hold on to Dimitri. When Dimitri found out about her duplicity, he left her but returned and they became engaged, and eventually married in a beautiful ceremony. Then, Erica hired as an assistant a new arrival in Pine Valley, Kendall Hart, a young woman who said she had idolized Erica Kane all her life. But Kendall had a secret reason for showing up at Erica's doorstep - she was Erica's long-lost daughter.

Erica had been raped when she was 14, and became pregnant. After giving birth, Erica gave the baby up for adoption and went on with her life as if this horrible nightmare had never occurred. Years passed. And now, when Mona saw Kendall's birthmark, she knew that baby had grown into the young woman who was standing before her. When Erica's precious daughter, Bianca, was hurt in a riding accident, a jealous Kendall blurted out to Erica that she too was Erica's daughter. Erica told Dimitri the whole story and invited Kendall to move in with her and Dimitri.

Kendall managed to con Dimitri into helping her locate her biological father, Richard Fields, even though Erica had forbidden her from trying to find him.

When Erica found out what Kendall was up to, she told Dimitri that Kendall had to leave their home. When he hesitated, Erica asked for a divorce and moved out of Wildwind.

After Kendall had spent her first night with Dimitri's Hungarian ward, medical student Anton Lang, she ran to Erica and told her that Dimitri had raped her. Believing her, Erica confronted Dimitri. Hallucinating about the night Richard Fields raped her, Erica grabbed a letter opener and in a hallucinatory moment of madness, plunged it into Dimitri's chest. Gasping in pain and disbelief, Dimitri slumped to the floor.

1994

Dimitri assumed that medical school student Anton was just his ward. When Corvina came to Pine Valley and confessed the truth of Anton's paternity to Dimitri, the instant "daddy" swore to keep the secret. At the same time, Dimitri grew protective of his son when he became hellbent on keeping Anton out of Kendall's clutches.

In the mean time, Kendall and the handsome blond writer, Del Henry, were collaborating on a scandalous, tell-all book on the life and loves of Erica Kane.

At Erica's trial, the defendant took the stand and painstakingly relived every last detail of that fateful night she stabbed Dimitri. She insisted that she didn't mean to stab Dimitri and leave him to die. In her delirium, she thought he was Richard Fields. When Kendall Hart took the stand, she lied through her teeth, swearing, under oath, that Dimitri had seduced her, sparking Erica to stab him. Kendall eventually came to see that Fields was a monster! Seeing the error of her ways, Kendall recanted her damaging testimony, but was still sent to jail for committing perjury on the witness stand. Erica was set free.

When Erica was modeling a wedding dress in New York (the one she's wearing in this picture), Jack surprised her by proprosing to her right there on the runway. Unfortunately for Jack (but great for us!), Erica chose Dimitri, and they were married for a second time on New Year's Eve. (See 1995 for the details.)
