GRATEFUL ME

If I keep saying, every single experience I experienced during the camp had opened my eyes, and made me think from different perspectives, it's true! Gosh, sometime I didn't realize that it's so lucky living as Okke, I didn't grateful enough to Him, and still complained about many things.

Since I got to Timor Leste, I found so many new things that I never thought I will face, from the people hospitality, playing soccer with Abitu ^^, teaching the kids, being called "Ibu Guru", helpful hands, cooking with fire wood.. And if I have to mention, the list will go on and on and on…

I saw how they live their life, and to be compared with my own, if I may say, I'm such a lucky girl, still have complete family, living in proper shelter, never faced violence, I almost get whatever I want… BUT, they face their life with joy, no matter what happen, I always see happy faces…. Ah.. Shame on me!

When I got here, everybody thought I wasn't happy staying in East Timor... they all are wrong, in fact, I'm in lve with that place, beside the quite and unpolluted environtment, also In that place I felt like I'm being needed, and I never felt that way before… can't you imagine, if suddenly, on the way to market, there was a little girl came to me and Yuni, gave us candies, and said," This is for you!"

I've told you that every night kids always came by, but one night I had to go somewhere, I saw disappointed face of the kids, "Don't go, please." they said…. Or how they tried to help me preparing the teaching materials or meals, they tried really hard, because sometime the materials are too difficult to be done by kids… but, once again..I can see how they want to help….

Anyway in that place, suddenly I thought about my family and my friends in my hometown, how many times I have disappointed them? The phrase that said: "we don't know what we got until we're far away from them" happened to me…. I'm sorry mamski and papski, for all things I've done…. I'm sorry, friends if I didn't try hard enough to help you. I'm sorry God, if sometime I complained too much! Geez..

This camp was really a gift, also a lesson for me to be grateful, because there are so many people out there who are not as lucky as I am
