Blast got fairly luck when it came to being a mutant. Besides seeing her in track, one could barely tell she was a mutant. But people started to wonder about her. Why could she run faster, jump higher, and be stronger than most of them? Her parents took her to a few experts and it was determined that Sheila was a mutant. Her parents completely freaked out, kicking her out of the house and the family.

She started living in a hostel that was mainly occupied by mutants. Eventually, this was discovered by the community and the hostel was burnt to the ground, putting Sheila back onto the street. While living on the street, she saw something on the news about the Alpha Squadron and resolved to join the team.

She then hitchhiked across the nation until she made it to Barstow, where she received a less than friendly greeting from Sizzle, but was welcomed into the house by Blizzard. After the intense events that occurred shortly after her arrival, Sizzle allowed her onto the team because she handled herself well in the battle. She now trains diligently in her free time to prove herself a useful addition to the team.
