Pradan Adan Pradan (give and take) is a ceremony that involves the matching of ancestral lines or bangsas in the presence of a purohit (priest). The purpose is to ensure that the marriage does not take place between close relatives or persons having the same gotra (lineage). However, this pre-engagement ritual is not common now-a-days. Paka-Dekha This is a ceremony where the groom's family visit the bride's family and finalise all the dates for marriage. Usually the elders from the groom's family visit the bride's family and a gift is given to the bride as a token. Now-a-days this ceremony is also not considered as a must. Aashirwad or Patri
Patra An alpana or rangoli of
lotus flowers or fish. Rice paste is mixed with water
for the rangoli. Diyas (oil lamps) and agarbattis (incense) to light during the ceremony. One cane plate (Kulo) with grass, rice with husk, curd, kajol, sweet and water Now-a-days, this ceremony is also crashed in those three days. Usually the elder's from the brides family come during the morning to grooms family for ashirwaad. <-------------Aashirbaad to Bride from her father<------ Similarly, the elders from groom's family goes to the bride's family for ashirwaad, just before the marriage. |
