Premiere Viviani France was part of the Triple Entente which consisted of Russia, France, and Britain. It then entered into the war as a result of the German declaration of war on Russia July 30, 1914. Their imperialistic reason for entering the war was to regain Alsace & Loraine from the Germans and restore their prestiege and happiness over Germany. Also, they wanted to stop German interference with French matters such as the Algerian & Moroccan revolts. The French government was a coalition government with the majority socialists. They believed in rights of individuals over rights of the government. Their goal was to restore the glory of Louis XIV's reign. |
