Relationship

The Prairie ecozone has a subhumid climate. They have hot, short summers but long, cold winters. The average temperature in the winter is -15ºC. The average summer temperature is 18ºC. The annual precipitation varies from 250 to 750 mm. The climate is fairly dry because the nearby Rocky Mountains block moisture-bearing winds. Winds that do come through come at fairly high speeds. The average annual wind speed in the ecozone is 18 to 21 km/h. Comparing to Toronto's speed of 16 km/h and Vancouver's 12 km/h, it is fairly fast. The Prairie ecozone's climate is continental.
