MESSAGE FROM THE BLACK CROSS SOCIETY
by: TiffanyDenise, Universal Directress
In 2008 we must, as a community, take a better stance on our own health and wellness. No longer can we continue to hold others responsible for simple changes we can make in our daily lives to ensure a healthy life for ourselves and our families. With the onslaught of more and more pharmaceutical drugs being pumped through the media making us all believe that for every discomfort a pill or perhaps two will take away the pain if only for a little while….In a country that proclaims a drug free attitude it’s astonishing how many drugs are being sold to us everyday. I want to encourage you to go back to the earth and her nutrients to regain and maintain your health. This first article is an overview of items that will be covered in more detail as the year progresses. Below are a few things for you to think about and gradually make apart of your life. This information will put you on your personal movement of a healthier you which will translate into a healthier family, community and world.
The Myth about Eating Healthy
Many of us have been led to believe that eating healthy is expensive. This couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact it’s much cheaper to eat healthy. When you eat healthy your body no longer craves the addictive sugary, salty or bready treats. You also won’t be spending money on all those over the counter drugs! And most importantly: a healthy life style today will save you money later because it will prevent the need of huge hospital bills and professional care due to dis-eased states like diabetes, hypertension, high blood pressure, obesity, etc.
The body never lies…
Our bodies are like a blueprint for what’s happening on the inside. If something seems abnormal it’s usually the body informing us that we haven’t been taking proper care of it. For instance a tooth cavity isn’t simply the result of too much sugar; it’s also the result of mineral deficiencies…calcium being one of those minerals. You see, the body simply wants to survive and unbeknownst to us it will do whatever it can to protect itself and when we put our bodies in a state of emergency our body begins to feed off of itself. So if I’m not giving it the calcium it needs sooner or later it’s going to the bones, the teeth the nails…to get the calcium it needs.
Eat Organic When Possible…
This includes all fruits and vegetables, spices, grains, eggs, beef, poultry, fish etc. (which is termed as wild). If you are having trouble finding these alternatives in your area please let me know and I’ll see what can be done to assist you. In any event don’t be too hard on yourself if you can’t get everything organic. What’s most important is that you began to make better choices over all rather organic or not.
Cleansing…
You absolutely without a shadow of a doubt must engage in a full body cleanse. This is imperative if you are to receive maximum benefits from your new healthier way of life.
Replace the following common items with healthier alternatives:
Conventional Healthy Alternative
White sugar and artificial sweeteners stevia or agave (honey & maple syrup are good too)
White flour & products made with millet/ bran/ oat or other grains
White rice wild/brown/black etc.
White table salt celtic sea salt
Cow’s Milk hemp/ Almond or Oat milk
To Strengthen & Purify the Blood the following herbs are great when made into a tea:
Burdock, Yellow Doc, Dandelion, Chaparral, Echinacea, Red Clover, Sassafrass
Yellow Doc & Dandelion are great for anemia.
Let’s Alkalize our Bodies!
Disease thrives in an acidic environment. Our bodies become acidic from various factors including stress, harboring of negative thoughts, being judgmental, eating processed foods, a diet high in animal protein (this is of course heightened when these animal sources are non-organic). We need oxygen to be healthy and strong. We get this from eating live foods. Just being in nature is good for our body, mind and spirit because we breath in oxygen from the trees and other green plants…our bodies need the oxygen and nutrients that can only be acquired from consuming raw foods. It’s all very simple when we really begin to investigate this whole movement of being well. I would like to suggest that we work towards a diet that is ultimately %70 per raw and %30 cooked. Yes this may take some time for some of us while others will opt for slightly differently ratios in either direction, this is fine we just want to make some adjustments so that as we see the results in our lives we will undoubtedly want to do more in regards to our own personal health.
Our heaviest meal should be eaten first thing in morning. This provides the body with the necessary energy needed to make it through the day.
Try this Green Smoothie for breakfast lunch. I wouldn’t suggest this for the last meal of the day as it will give you so much energy you will have trouble getting to sleep J. This smoothie is also perfect for those with diabetes.
Ingredients
Avocado (one half)
any of the following: mint/parsley
celery or cucumber
spinach
broccoli
green pepper
string beans
coconut milk
psyllium husk powder-1 tsp (natural fiber)
dandelion greens (can be added when available)
hemp seeds-2 TSP (can be added for a longer lasting feeling of fullness which is great if reducing your weight is apart of your plan)
Blend all ingredients in a blender or smoothie machine until smooth…enjoy.
More tips for diabetics…
One cup of string bean juice = two units of insulin
The key is to take it one day at a time. Pardon the metaphor but you can only eat an elephant one bite at a time. Don’t worry over the seemingly insurmountable task of eating that whole elephant. You can’t possibly eat it in one sitting, so take your time. Remember, good health of the mind, body and spirit is everyone’s right. The abundance of the universe belongs to all of humanity. If this is the case then certainly it belongs to you, in fact its already yours.
